Cyber Suspect: Woman Wanted "Rape Fantasy"

A Wyoming man charged with carrying out an Internet-arranged rape has pleaded not guilty to five felonies.

Prosecutors say 26-year-old Ty Oliver McDowell forced his way into a woman's Casper home in December, tied her hands and raped her at knifepoint. Investigators say McDowell told them he was responding to an online Craigslist ad and believed the woman wanted to play out a "rape fantasy."

Prosecutors say the woman's former boyfriend, 27-year-old Jebidiah James Stipe of Twentynine Palms, Calif., posted the ad without her knowledge to set her up for the attack. Stipe is charged with conspiracy to commit sexual assault.

Both men face life in prison if convicted.

Agreed. I've known several who liked to be restrained and "taken". It allows them a "guilt-free" experience in that it is done (ostensibly) against their will.

Ironically enough, they only want to be taken "against their will" if they agree to it.

Wich is obviously not the case with this woman.

Also ironically, the worthless ex will get in prison what he wished on her, most likely....which I would call justice.

What a scumbag.

Raped somebody at knife point because they saw a craigslist ad that said the person wanted to be raped? That's one of the most stupid things I've heard even if she DID have the fantasy. Only a total moron would do that. "Buddy, you are charged with rape." "But I saw on the computer that she WANTED to be raped".

No the site is not dirty..but as ye would in a newspaper ad ye have to be careful. No one has the right to abuse another person..I don't use the site. NO WOMAN WOULD WANT TO BE RAPED IF SHE IS IN HER RIGHT MIND..Sexual abuse changes a person. I know that. The problem with men is they can't handle the word no.

There is no counting for lack of intelligence in the general population. Publish a ad in Craidslist that you will be award $100 if you shot yourself---somebody will do it.

There is no penalty severe enough for the crime of rape - - the victim is changed forever and will suffer forever
Both these extremely incompetent and ignorant fools need to be removed from society completely - - their suffering cannot be arranged to be significant enough.

Craigslist is great - I've used it for many things. Just because some sicko used it for something it was not intended for does not make the website dirty - any more than a bad classified ad in a newspaper means the newspaper is at fault.

I can believe this guy is a sucker - but he still should have been more dilligent. When she said No, he should back off immediately. What - if someone posted an ad saying they wished to be murdered, would he go shoot a random stranger without checking first? Nope - he still needs some jail time.

I agree also. Craigslist has its redeeming values and just about any media can be misused and exploited.

Somehow it strikes me that the words "rape" and "fantasy" just don't belong together. Even if I knew a woman who said that in her mind those words went together (which was not the case in this case), I'd run like hell.

I have to disagree. The rape fantasy with women is actually quite common and well documented. I am not defending rape, just saying that the fantasy is an established fact.

Solarrays247, I am not trying to argue with you either but I stand by my assertion that rape fantasy is quite common in women. Here is a link to an article in "Psychology Today" and the link: << A recent analysis of 20 studies over the last 30 years indicates that between 31% and 57% of women have rape fantasies, and these fantasies are frequent or preferred in 9% to 17% of women. Considering that many people are ashamed to report rape fantasies, these stats are most likely lowball figures. >> and the link: http://www.psychologytoday.com/blog/brainstorm/200805/why-do-women-have-erotic-rape-fantasies

Please don't misunderstand my intentions, I am not trying to defend rape, it is wrong, dead a ss wrong. I am just refuting the statement that no sensible woman fantasizes about rape. That just isn't true.

Well I sure you will be missed. To judge the whole by the actions of a few is myopic.

I'm with you on that.

How many people have been murdered from answering or posting ads on there?

There are a lot of stupid people out there. I think the one that gets me the most is the woman that posted an ad for a babysitter and got some young guy. I think he murdered her, not the kid.
