John Edwards Sex Tape Exists, Aide Says

Elizabeth Edwards stood faithfully by her husband even after she learned he had an affair on the campaign trail while she battled cancer. She recently described the "slow process" of trying to rebuild her trust in him.

Now, with the word out that she and her husband have separated, a former aide is claiming he found a sex tape of John Edwards and his mistress, Rielle Hunter. He also claims Edwards urged him to convince Hunter to have an abortion after she became pregnant with Edwards' child.

Edwards just a week ago admitted to fathering a child with Hunter, as details of their relationship emerged from a book by his former aide Andrew Young.

In an ABC News interview, Young says he found a sex tape of Hunter and Edwards in a pile of trash in a house where Hunter once lived. He also says Edwards asked him in late May 2007 to convince Hunter to terminate her pregnancy but that Hunter refused.

Elizabeth Edwards, 60, has declined to comment through a friend, Andrea Purse, who confirmed her separation from John Edwards. But Elizabeth's sister told The Associated Press that she remains strong.

"She's doing as well as you could expect," Nancy Anania said. "I'm really proud of her that, somehow, she's got strength that you rarely see in a person."

John Edwards issued a brief statement Wednesday, expressing care for the mother of four of his children.

"It is an extraordinarily sad moment, but I love my children more than anything and still care deeply about Elizabeth," he said.

Purse did not reveal how long the couple has been apart. North Carolina law typically requires couples to be separated for a year before divorcing.

As usual, the hypocritical right wing, religious and otherwise are quick to condemn others for doing what they have either done, are doing, or have contemplated doing.

It's the USA's sick fascination with sex forced upon it by the religious reich, that causes this unhealthy fixation. A nation of atheists and rational thinkers would focus on more important issues.

A nation of people who believe in a moral right and wrong wouldn't have rising teenage pregnancy and rising rates of STD's either. But the constant stream of what you seem to feel has no more imprtance than junk email is ruining childrens and famlies lives every day.

Funny - liberals always dismiss sex as just some fun pastime - until it'st their daughter who is pregnant - then it's off to the family doctor to get the obligitory abortion of a "fetus". Then you find out it isn't just a "procedure" it;s a life.

Complicated once you start to look at the consequences of "just sex".

I don't see where any of this is our business. Private lives, like JFK or Ted's of the barber down the street should be , well, private. Who are we to hold any blame ? There are so many more important issues. The President gave a great speech last night, and that is way more important than bashing a man who made a mistake here and there, like all of us.

I personally feel that John Edwards is the most hated man in America right now. In a year of craziness, this is the most sordid tale of all. I am so sad for Elizabeth who has suffered so much with the loss of a child, cancer, impending loss of her own life and now this? The only time I lose a bit of sympathy for her is when she stands by this a$$hole.
