Scott Brown Daughters "Really Famous" Now

Fathers have a habit of embarrassing their daughters. It comes with the territory. But this week, the new senator from Massachusetts did it in front of the entire country.

CBS News correspondent Whit Johnson reports that Scott Brown's victory speech started innocently enough when he turned the spotlight away from himself, but veered in an awkward direction when he mentioned his daughters.

"I rely on Gail's love and support and that of our two lovely daughters," Brown began, adding, "And just in case anyone who's watching throughout the country -- yes, they're both available."

With that embarrassing "Dad" moment caught on national TV, Scott Brown thrust his college-aged daughters, Ayla and Arianna into the limelight - something, Johnson pointed out, they're likely used to.

Both of Brown's daughters appeared regularly in campaign ads -- a bonus for a politician with daughters like Brown's.

At just 21, Ayla has already made a name for herself. In 2005, she gained national attention as a semi-finalist on "American Idol." She's working on her third album. The six-foot beauty is also a basketball star at Boston College.

Ayla's younger sister, 19-year-old Arianna, is studying pre-med at Syracuse University.

With two accomplished daughters and a wife who's a TV reporter, Johnson joked the new senator may find himself struggling for media attention.

Nia-Malika Henderson, a White House reporter for Politico.com, said on "The Early Show" Brown has seen some censure for his remarks.

"Some people have found this comment kind of cringe-inducing. For instance, Glenn Beck was one of the people who criticized Senator-elect Brown for essentially saying that his daughters were available for marriage. But most people seem to find it funny and you looked at the reaction of daughter there. She kind of was embarrassed certainly, her mouth kind of dropped open there. And so it was a little embarrassing for them, but most people just think this was a real human moment for senator-elect Brown."

"Early Show" co-anchor Harry Smith remarked that in an age when people want transparency, this may lend itself to a better image for Brown.

"That was a pretty transparent moment," Smith said.

"Exactly," Henderson said. "That's very much the kind of campaign that Brown ran. Very much outside the belt way, unorthodox campaign. Here's a guy who posed for a Cosmopolitan nude. And that's -- this really kind of weird campaign that he ran, very much resonated with for the folks who were sick of the button down ways of Washington."

But how is it this going to play when you get to button down Washington?
Henderson said that moment with his daughters shows a local politician who has suddenly been thrust onto the national stage.

"Things are certainly different when you're a national figure and when he moves to Washington. One of the things that we might see is this might be a senator who is gaffe prone, who has to walk back from remarks that he makes. But he could be a kind of hero for at least folks in the teabag movement and grassroots folks because he says what's on his mind."

As for Brown's daughter, Ayla, she's moving up the release date of her album up to Tuesday to capitalize on the publicity of her father's remarks. Her Facebook page, Smith added, was overwhelmed by people trying to "friend" her.

"She's really famous now," Henderson said.

Smith replied, "Unbelievable."

I think he was just being a silly dad. There was no harm in the comment. His daughter's singing, now there is some harm. She has the personality of a rock.

Yes, as a former farmer boy this thing called Congress of this United States of America, more and more, reminds me of nothing more illustrative than a big trough with a good number of pigs feeding from it, where sometimes those pigs fight with each other. Yes, some fatened pigs are send to the butcher house while new ones take their place; yes a saw or two provided a number of new newcomers according to nature may I suggest, and actually to our benefit. Yes, I feel free to use this illustration, that of pigs, because the word pork is constantly spoken in that "human" pig pen, by both sides of the isle, right? Notice I put the word human in quotation, simply because the behavior there in that pig pen more and more, is unlike of American human beings, where the whole world can look in free of charge! Brown making any difference, absolutely zero, zilch, nada etc., etc., etc. America in reality has never ever been a true Democracy where pure Capitalism lead, allowing the free market to truly operate and as it should and would, and has ever so slowly fallen in deep love with the evils that of Socialism/Communism and brutal Inperialistic Militarism. The following words come to mind, spoken so long ago to keep riminding America to be careful to never ever fall into that destructive pit and here they are: "Remember democracy never last long. It soon wastes, exhaust and murders itself. There never was a democracy yet, that did not commit suicide". By John Adams letter to John Taylor 15 April, 1814. Yes, Socialism/Communism and brutal Imperialistis Militarism; these evils are to America what in real life termites are to a wooden structure, where in neither case, the inhabitants therein are awares of such subtle but sure destrutice force. For instance how many Americans today are aware that the true National Debt is actually way over $100 trillion when the unfunded liabilities that of Social Security and Medicare are added to the reported by that pen, that is only $12+ trillion dollars? If this despicable debt is not to America like termites are to a wooden structure please step forward and explain otherwise. Maybe Mr. Brown will do so as he claims to have all wisdom and wants to be honest with the American people. By the way I voted for Ron Paul, who truly should now be the Commander in Chief, who would have in essence, taken a 180 degree turn around and saved America from the present sure road of self-destruction it is on, like all previous Empires. History is on my side! America, good luck on your happy journey to hell! I rest my case for now!

It was dad teasing his daughers in fun and jest. We all had similar moments with our families.
A refreshing change from the staged act like the obamas production.

OK, AM group, get off Scott Brown and the daughter deal. Yes, he would probably like to take that back, but deal with it! He won, and won big in Kennedy's on yard. I know you liberal weinees just hate it, but deal with it. Maggie REALLY needs to deal with. Her comments are so rude and immature for a person in her position.

Brown should be more careful. In our seedy society his remarks could be gravely misinterpreted. Winning brings a big rush, It can be intoxicating. May he be both courageous but thoughtful as well.
