RIM to delay reporting quarterly financial statements
Research In Motion will delay filing its second-quarter financial statements while it continues its own investigation into stock option grants, the company announced Friday.
The BlackBerry maker announced its voluntary internal review on Sept. 28 of its options-granting practices. Most recently, the independent directors conducting the investigation found that a technical error in the options-granting process was made prior to February 2002.
RIM says it will file the financial statements "as soon as is practicable."
The Canadian company is one of more than 100 companies undergoing similar options-granting investigations, including McAfee and CNET News.com's parent company, CNET Networks.
