I will do whatever I can to help Haiti or other people in need after a disaster, or anytime I can. However, I do not appreciate having my TV hijacked for an evening so that celebrities can tell me how badly they need help. I already know this. And my television has been hijacked. Perhaps cable and satellite subscribers have some choice. I do not. Well, yes I do. I have a DVD player and a number of movies to choose from. I have books and music. Music that is on tune in fact, rather than off as the singer I was listening to for a short time on the telethon was.

I am sorry to sound so much like a grump, but I hate being manhandled and that is what this feels like. I know how to do good and do it much better when I'm having other people shove their ideas at me.

The American Dream
It means different things to each
It not the same as years past
It is a shame
The American Dream is for the well to do
Keeping up with the Jones' American Dream
Us poor don't
We can learn lessons from the nation most in need.
It is truky heart breaking
I heald about the so called American Dream.
It did not mean me
Yep I was born in this nation
An American female born multi handicaped
Barred from school until 10 years old
I was taught the American Dream is for the males growing up
At 55 I wonder about it.

Has Wyclef Jean's charity passed muster yet? I wonder if he will still be included (or should be) by the time the telethon airs.

Hollywood needs to get a shovel and take their arrogant ***** down to haiti and do some real work instead of holding telethons.

NYPD: Rather than cricizing someone who is using their talents to help out how about channeling your talents to do the same? jgg000101 - same to you. I imagine Clooney et al have already made personal donations without feeling the need to advise you of the fact and now they are working to raise money to assist.

Get a clue. Most Americans in financial trouble have themselves to blame. If they lost everything in an earthquake, and not because they were chasing the American Dream I'd be the 1st to offer assistance.

To the person who remarked that most Americans in financial trouble have themselves to blame: Excuse me? That is a very arrogant attitude. You cannot possibly know that this is true. I hope you never find out the hard way that it is not, but you might one day, you just might.
