Sherriff Joe Arpaio Facing Investigation

Two county officials say they'll testify next week before a federal grand jury exploring allegations that the office run by high-profile Arizona sheriff Joe Arpaio has abused its power.

The Arizona Republic reported on its Web site Thursday night that Maricopa County Manager David Smith and Assistant County Manager Sandi Wilson will testify Wednesday.

Arpaio gained national attention for aggressively cracking down on illegal immigration.

He has sparred for more than a year with county leaders over allegations of corruption. In recent months, two elected supervisors and a judge have been charged by County Attorney Andrew Thomas after sheriff's investigations.

Grand jury proceedings are secret, and officials at the U.S. Department of Justice wouldn't comment or confirm that an investigation is under way.

Arpaio told the newspaper his office will continue its investigations but declined to comment further. His office didn't immediately return an e-mail message left by The Associated Press Thursday night.

Does illegal mean anything to any of you supporters of the ILLEGAL invaders? We are being robbed of our jobs, our ability to support our families, our American way of life, our sovernty, and in many casses our security. We now have forign very very dangerous gangs, in fact the most dangerous gangs on the face of the earth who kill, rob, sell drugs, intimidate, rape, extort or just pick a crime and then jump back over the fence and go scott free as our law enforcment agencies have no juristiction to follow and their governments not only do not help but stand in the way of apprehension. Don't get me wrong I feal sorry for them and their plight but if we allow all of the people that are at a political or monitary disadvantage to flood over our borders overburdining our health systems and support systems set up to care for the citizans of our great country we will be lost as a sovern country and so overcrouded we won't be able to move. I have been paying into this system starting when I was 15 years old and after paying in for 43 pluss years am outraged that my safety net is being shredded to support a group of illegals no matter where they come from as not all come from south of the border just the vast majority. Quick Draw George wanted to unleash truckers from down south on our roads to hobble the trucking unions and get all his rich supporters access to all of the cheap labor knowing that most of these truckers do not even know how to read the signs or keep the brakes working on their trucks. How are these drivers to know their in a work zone or a slow down zone when they do not know how to read the signs? The Mexican government does not have rules in place for proper truck repair and it is very common to have only half of their trucks brakes working at any given time. This is a recipe for disaster. The government gave citizenship to if I remember some where around 13,000,000.00 some years back and this set a very dangerous example for the croud we have now. They came here with all of the expectations of more of the same. DO NOT let this happen or the flood gates will be open as if they arn't now. If they want to be citizens let them follow the clearly defined rules or return to their place of origin. Good luck to the true citizens of our great country and God Bless America!
