Allman Brothers Move Annual NYC Shows
(AP)
The Allman Brothers Band is packing up its tent and moving its annual March run of New York City shows uptown.
The Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Famers will perform this year's shows at the United Palace Theater. That's about 100 blocks north of their traditional home. The band has played 190 shows over 20 years at the Beacon Theater.
Rock Hall Rocks Out
MSG Entertainment, which runs the Beacon, has booked Cirque du Soleil, the Montreal circus troupe, for a long run.
The Allmans have had an affinity for New York audiences, dating back to their 1971 album, "Live at the Fillmore East."
Gregg Allman is philosophical about the move. He tells The New York Times: "...We went through the same thing with the Fillmore."
