Free Trip to Mexico a Pain in the Butt

(CBS)  For those Brits and Germans already sick of winter, an American pharmaceutical company may have a cure in the form of a free trip to sunny Mexico.

The catch: you have to help test their new diarrhea drug.

Participants can eat and drink on the company's tab. However, they must also wear an arm patch containing the drug and take daily blood and stool samples, according to an article in the U.K. Daily Mail.

Intercell is looking for nearly 2,000 volunteers ages 18-64 to test out a new vaccine.

"We are looking for people who have already planned to go to Mexico or Guatemala and think this would add another interesting aspect," Nigel Thomas, Intercell's clinical director, told another British publication.

"We cover their expenses - flights and accommodation - nothing beyond that.

"It is almost like going on a package holiday. They will be met by a concierge who will take them to their hotel and arrange for them to give their first blood sample within 48 hours," he said.
