Madoff Moved to Prison Medical Wing

Bernard Madoff has been moved from a North Carolina federal prison to a prison medical facility.

Federal Bureau of Prisons spokeswoman Traci Billingsley said Wednesday that Madoff was moved Friday.

She says the bureau won't publicly discuss the reasons for an inmate's transfer.

Madoff has been imprisoned since March. That's when he pleaded guilty to fraud charges and admitted cheating thousands of investors out of billions of dollars.

The 71-year-old was arrested a year ago after he confessed his private-investment business was a fraud.

He is being treated at the Federal Medical Center, part of the Butner Federal Correctional Complex in Butner, N.C.

"Bernie Madoff, a "victim of society", a poor man who was just trying to take care of his family, just like any hard working firefighter, teacher or nurse..."

What a load of horse-sh**.

Why do some feel that they want to torture this poor old man, who probably as suffered 1000 times more than he should have, for what ? taking care of his family ??? If society did not reward greed , do you think this would have happened ??

Oh it's all society's fault, huh ?

John Gotti took care of his family too.

Don't make excuses for criminals by blaming "society".

Blame the criminals.

This bum defrauded charities and ruined many people's lives.

And now he gets the best free medical care that taxpayor money can buy, all in secret and privilaged unlike his victims. You just have to be dishonest to get good care in this country.

Why won't they reveal the reason? He's a freaking PRISONER, for God's sake. I would think that since American taxpayers are paying his room and board, they deserve to know the reason, especially since he bilked millions out of many of them.

The great thing about all this, I couldn't have afforded to invest with Bernie. He stole nothing from ME personally. I think Fannie and Freddie shortchanged everybody.

"Fannie and Freddie did not short change anyone --STOP with that LIE already. People who defaulted would have defaulted anyway because the main reason they defaulted was due to the 400% increase in gas and the 400% increase in food and utilities. NO BANK ever factors in a 400% increase in cost of living before they lend.

They failed because though they could make their payments when the economy was okay--when gas rose due to that liars war and then everything else increased they could not keep up. Given the choice of paying a mortgage and buying gas to go to work and buying food--guess what did not get paid?

FAnnie and Freddie were not the only institutions that failed a lot of banks did--because no one considered that all wars are not profitable--they are only profitable when you either gain something (like oil fields) or when you produce something due to the war like mfg steel and materials--but America is a service country now--not a producer--so when we go to war--it no longer makes a richer--what can we offer to build or repair or loan? We sent our steel mills and raw material To China, or tech industry to India and Asia and we don't even grow the majority of our own groceries anymore--they come from S. America, Mexico and Asia--so how can we profit? Put the war on the stock exchange and hope we can ponzi it up like we do most everything else?
