FBI Orders Review of Fort Hood Suspect

(AP)  Ex-FBI director William Webster will conduct an independent review of the bureau's handling of information gathered about the Fort Hood shooting suspect before the deadly rampage, officials said Tuesday.

FBI Director Robert Mueller has asked Webster to take a look at how the bureau handled information about Maj. Nidal Hasan in the months before the shooting at the Texas military base that killed 13 people.

Mueller had already ordered an internal review of the matter, and that review led to a secret report to the White House in late November. The new assignment for Webster takes the internal review a step further, and likely means a more prolonged, in-depth inquiry. Webster is a former judge who also served as CIA director.

In a statement, Mueller called Webster "uniquely qualified" for the job because he "has led independent reviews of various FBI systems and broader policies and provided valuable recommendations. In this case, Judge Webster will have complete access and whatever resources necessary to complete the task."

The U.S. military is also reviewing its handling of information about Hasan before the shooting spree, and has also sent a report to the White House on the matter. In the FBI's case, members of two anti-terrorism task forces saw e-mails between the Army psychiatrist and a radical imam overseas beginning in December 2008.

One of those task forces reviewed the communications and decided they were in keeping with Hasan's research at the time. As a result, no formal investigation of Hasan was opened — a move that has been criticized by some in Congress.

Here we go again a very good story to start to blame it on Islam and Muslims, this is just what the 6 to 8 million people who have been chosen by god to overpower others on earth are looking for so they can take more your kids to fight and die in the middle of no where so they can achieve their own sick goals without killing their own people because they are so precious to die and remember they have been chosen by god!. Has anyone thought that why would anyone who got it all want to do such thing and why now? Have you looked in the mirror lately and wonder what become of you going to other countries and killing their kid stealing their homelands and calling this freedom? Have you visited lately the Middle East and looked at what have you done to this area? Have ever wonder what the consequences of insulting other people religion are; specially Islam the sophisticated religion that you don?t know anything about? Go figure this all out and then you will know why this guy lost his mind around people like you? But this new investigation is just so they can add more of their defamatory actions to serve their own political agenda, what a free world this is???!?!!? Big mess!!

Lord Webster!
Is this the same guy who was fired as CIA director?
I wonder what he was fired for? Wouldn't that make a story. Did it have something to do with his tenure as FBI director?
The Good Ol Boy network is intact.
America is safe.

It's amazing. The service knew this man had a problem and he wanted out in a bad way. They hold some of the blame here. They should have listened to the signs he was displaying. If a guy wanting to enter the Marines acted as if he was to eager to be a Marine then he'd be turned down. I've seen it happen before. It should be the same a person has deep depression or hatred for the country he's suppose to be protecting. Now the Government will have to pay for his care and his prison sentence for the rest of his life. He health care alone will cost this country over 200,000.00 a year alone.

Why has it taken this much time after this tragic event to just begin
a review of what FBI knows about Hasan? Interestingly, how much more $$$ will this cost us tax payers? It still have been revealed, make public about the information FBI already has on Hasan. I wonder if we
will ever find out those facts.
