Kan. Lawmaker Apologizes for "RedNeck Rap"

(AP)  A Kansas lawmaker says he's sorry if he offended anyone by criticizing President Obama while wearing a cap that calls opossum "the other dark meat."

Rep. Bill Otto said during a meeting with the NAACP on Saturday that he had "absolutely no thought of anything racial" in his online video, "RedNeck Rap."

But he's standing by his rhymes. Among other things, he criticizes bringing Guantanamo Bay prisoners to the U.S. and the economic bailouts.

The Republican from Leroy says his cap refers to his roots and "The Beverly Hillbillies" television family that dined on opossum. He says the message is that anyone can see Congress' failings.

The NAACP demanded an apology after the video was posted in September. In a sequel, Otto offers some praise to Mr. Obama.

I like the part about the clueless that think this is a 'free speech' issue. If the NAACP was a government body trying to censor a private citizen, it'd be a free speech issue. But it's not.

This is about bad judgement. It's about a talentless politician that, if he isn't racist, he's providing reinforcement for racist yappers. But look for the defenders of stupid to continue to move the racist-apologist ball on this one. Right, rush?...

What ever happened to freedom of speech? I think some of these people are just a little thin-skinned.

So if I, for example show a bowl full of housefly maggots, and call it "other white beings", then say that i had "absolutely no thought of anything racial", I should expect whites to accept my word on that?

Riight, the only problem is that the NAACP has lost the courage to call this knuckle-dragger on it.
