Machine Gun Fire Erupts at Baltimore Hotel

(CBS/AP)  Machine gunfire broke out during a birthday party at a downtown Baltimore hotel, critically injuring three people.

Police say the shooter is still at large.

Baltimore police spokesman Anthony Guglielmi said police were called to the Sheraton hotel around 3:15 a.m. Sunday after a fight broke out at the party and someone began shooting.

Police found the Uzi submachine gun in a room where the party was held.

Guglielmi says the three who were injured were taken to the University of Maryland Medical Center's shock trauma center.

CBS Affiliate WJZ reports that three people were taken to the University of Maryland Medical Center's shock trauma center.

The two gunshot victims were adult males. A third man suffered facial lacerations but he was not shot.

Guglielmi said officials have no information on the shooter and that police are interviewing about a dozen witnesses.

He also did not know the identities of the three who were injured, but said one was shot in the head.

Well looks like someone is making up the news... Yahoo is reporting the weapon as a SEMI-AUTO Tech 9 and not a MACHINE GUN. Guess who ever wrote this story thought the UZI name would sound meaner.

I occasionally like to liven things up at parties by firing my Uzi.

I usually try not to HIT people, though.

This is probably drug-gang related. If so, its just another example of what a man has to do if he is confronted with a business hurdle that would normaly require a lawyer. If we take drugs off the black-market then we will see an end to drug related crime.

All you gun nuts are in denial. Fact is you are all a bunch of ******* who got beat up and embarrassed when you were kids. I feel sorry for you, but carrying a gun around to avenge the bully that kicked your ass isn't going to heal your ego.

And a comment like yours shows that the anti-gun crowd is just as nuts as the NRA.

There are plenty of low-key, law abiding folks who own arms and who use them responsibly. Me thinks thou doth protest too much...

Actually automatic weapons are not illegal in the US. They are illegal in most states, but in those states that allow them you only need to pay the federal fee. Notice that you NEVER hear of any legally owned automatic weapons (or silenced for that matter) being used in a crime. No, it is the illegally owned guns that cause the problem, and those gang bangers couldn't care less about your silly gun laws. They are finding that out in the UK now. There you can go to jail for posessing a bullet, let alone a gun. Guess who has all the guns? Try the police and the gangs. Everyone else is just a target waiting to happen.

But every illegal gun sale is the direct descendant of a legal one. Somewhere along the line, somebody--maybe a gun trafficker--bought the gun and sold it to somebody else.

Its true though in states where concealed weapons permits were issued crime decreased. This is because criminals think twice about if their victim might themselves have a means kill them in self defense.

1- The perp was likely a felon who is forbidden to possess a firearm.

2- Drugs and or gangs are involved

3- The shooter was a gangsta.

4- This culture of violence and disrespect of others starts out at a young age as witnessed by the numerous Chuck E. Cheese birthday fights usually by the same class of people.

Gun control is the ability to hit your target.

They withheld this to make people suspect terrorists.
It was gang related.
"The man who was shot was in serious condition, and the man who was beaten was in critical condition. Both 18-year-olds were taken to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center.

The second man was beaten so severely that officers initially reported he had been shot, Guglielmi said."
