U.S. Drone Attacks May Widen in Pakistan

(AP)  U.S. officials say the Obama administration is considering widening its drone strikes on al Qaeda and the Taliban inside Pakistan, and planning to bolster the training of Pakistan's forces in a key battleground where militants fuel the escalating Afghan insurgency.

Officials say the stepped-up moves against the militant networks could extend drone strikes farther south, beyond the current target areas in Waziristan and into Baluchistan. U.S. forces are also developing plans to expand their training of Pakistan's paramilitary Frontier Corps into that province.

President Barack Obama cited the war against al Qaeda as his main goal in an address on Afghan strategy, but divulged no details on how he would carry it out.

The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because the drone program is classified, and decisions on the training program are not yet final.

"Kill one Al Qaeda or Taliban and 10 innocent civilians... create 20 Taliban from grieving family members."

It's funny how that works.

If we kill 10 innocent civilians, we create 20 Taliban. If the Taliban kills 10 innocent civilans, what do they create?...........more converts??

AJ, by the way, good to see you here commenting.

That's not fair to confuse Ms.Enza with logic or her own lack of logic or common sense....exactly, what does she think the "grieving family members" think of those innocently killed by Taliban attacks ? I don't think she has the knowledge to think beyond the false liberal talking point that America kills innocent women and children....Ms_Enza and Reveal5 would make a great couple

Drones are vital in this war. With all the sand, caves, camels, sun and gravel and rocks....you don't want to put too many troops out there hunting for one muslim cave dweller. KEEP THE DRONES FLYING AND BOMBING!!!

This will likely be no less effective than anything else we've tried the last 8 years.

Too late, they have already been very effective...very

Both from intelligence gathering and from strikes.

Matter of fact, several top Terrorists have already been "tried by hellfire missle"

At this late date, these drones may be our best opportunity to get Osama bin Laden.

UAV's are a "Trial" I can support, where a Obama and a Hellfire missle are the Judge/Jury/Executioner of the terrorists.
