Oracle has hired a Chief Open Source Evangelist, named Omar Tazi, who vowed that Oracle would be contributing more to the open-source community.

Tazi, who had been the CEO of XML infrastructure software company Orbeon, joined Oracle this month, according to his blog.

The creation of the position reflects Oracle's plan to boost its involvement in open-source projects, Tazi said.

"Let's face it; Oracle is known as an active contributor to the JCP (Java Community Process). Oracle has also been known as a big supporter of OSS (open-source software) on the consuming side. But the reality is that Oracle is behind on the giving back side. Well, we are working on that and I am here to change this perception," Tazi wrote. "Soon Oracle will be the largest software vendor actively involved with the open source community."

Oracle is a major backer of the Linux operating system -- its 10g grid databases are designed to combine the processing muscle of many commodity x86 hardware servers, running either Linux or Windows.

Earlier this year, the company has also boosted its participation in the Eclipse Foundation and increased support for some open-source development tools, including the Apache MyFaces project.

The sheriff is a "no-nonsense" guy who actually enforces the law. He - - unlike the hecklers - - understand the meaning of "illegal" and the "illegal" action of sneaking into the US. If the hecklers had their property affected by the illegals... I daresay they just might think differently. Not all, but MANY of the illegals are not opposed to robbing, stealing, accosting or whatever it takes to survive because that is the way they have done it all their lives. They get caught and/or jailed costing US dollars and time that could well be used elsewhere. They fight, get sick or need medical attention - - they get it - - again at the expense of US.

MORE POWER TO ARPAIO

Arpaio is a disgusting pig and mediawhore, nonetheless, people, knock this heckling crap off. When a forum is called to discuss a specific thing, let it be. If you don't approve, don't attend, or protest outside. Some people care, some people want to hear the speaker and make up their own minds. This crass behavior does no one any good, and it just makes you look like boors. Obama gets interrupted in Congress, healthcare reform meetings are disrupted by Hate Radio nuts, so what, no more civil discourse about anything in this country? That's just closed-mindedness, whatever side you're on.

What are you Arpaio haters so upset about? He simply enforces the law, and that upsets you? You may say he profiles when it comes to illegals.....soooo! What's wrong with that? If you're not guilty of the crime, then you shouldn't care. If that upsets you, then you secretly support illegal entry into this country....plain and simple.

figtree52 your an idiot if you think you can just profile "illegals". He profiles all hispanics because you can't look at someone and tell that they are a citizen or not. So a statement like that just confirms that you are a rascist.

I wish this bozo had run into Maurice Clemmons.

I don't live in Arizona either but it does concern me.
1. This Sheriff is honestly upholding the law and doing what is right and LEGAL. Illegal alien invaders are just that, illegal. Futhermore, these illegals are sponging up our welfare money, taking our jobs and commiting violent crimes against Americans.
2. Now there is the question of First Amendment rights. How can a group of journalism students prohibit this man's right to speak? I want to see their professors fail them for violating another's right to free speech. What is the school doing about this and what are they teaching the students? This is unacceptable. Basically, journalists are one click below lawyers, dealers and child molesters. Thank you.

The United States is said to be a nation of laws and not men. Over the years since the Constitution was adopted as the basis for all law in the U.S., there has been mass immigration of individuals and families from nations where this was not the rule. Our education system has failed us, for the descendants of these people are still looking for a strong leader, to be their dictator. These families are authoritarian, and authoritarianism is passed down from father to son, and so is the longing for a dictator or a strong leader.
Admit it or not authoritarianism is on the rise in America today, There are branches of Government working to make America more authoritarian, this is seen in the extreme number of people incarcerated, the war in Iraq, and the list goes on and on. This Sheriff is an example of Authoritarian Rot in America, but then again most of the Rot is in, Law Enforcement. Over six thousand unsolved murders in America every year, how many of these are committed by Law Enforcement Personnel? My guess is that Law Enforcement is operation Murder Incorporated.
