New 60 Minutes/Vanity Fair Poll
The CBS News magazine 60 Minutes and Vanity Fair are out with a new poll taking the pulse of America on all things large, small and quirky.
CBSNews.com's Cali Carlin and Vanity Fair's executive online editor, Michael Hogan, stopped by The Early Show to share the results with Early Show co-anchors Harry Smith and Maggie Rodriguez.
1. THE NEXT PRESIDENT ON MOUNT RUSHMORE SHOULD BE?
•John F Kennedy
•Ronald Reagan
•Franklin D Roosevelt
•Barack Obama
•Dwight Eisenhower
•Andrew Jackson
•Lyndon Johnson
(The presidents, who already are on Mt. Rushmore, include Washington, Jefferson, Lincoln, and Teddy Roosevelt.)
According to Carlin, John F Kennedy got the most votes, showing that "people want to further the Camelot feeling."
Regan, who came in second place, was the highest ranked Republican in the poll.
"About 16 percent wanted our current, President Barack Obama, even though he hasn't even served a full year in office - could be a little premature, kind of like that Nobel Prize!" Carlin added.
2. CAN YOU EXPLAIN WHAT THE "PUBLIC OPTION" IS?
•Yes
•No
According to Holden 26 percent said they could explain it and 66 percent said they couldn't explain it - proving a high lack of understanding, he pointed out.
"In a nutshell it's pretty simple," Hogan said. "It's a government run health plan that is supposed to compete with the private insurers to establish affordable rates for the uninsured."
3. WHO WOULD YOU LEAST LIKE TO HEAR AT A PAINFULLY HIGH VOLUME?
•Britney Spears
•AC/DC
•Eminem
•Nine Inch Nails
•Rage Against the Machine
•The Bee Gees
Surprisingly, 28 percent of Americans said Britney Spears.
"I think they are picking on Brit," Carlin said.
Celebrity Circuit
4. WHICH LOST ARTIFACT WOULD YOU MOST LIKE TO FIND?
•Noah's Ark
•Atlantis
•Amelia Earhart's plane
•Nixon's missing tape
•Cleopatra's barge
"It's Norah's Ark in a landslide - 43 percent," Hogen said.
