Tiger: "I'm Human and I'm Not Perfect"

(CBS/AP)  In a public statement Tiger Woods said the car accident early Friday morning in which his SUV hit a fire hydrant and then a tree was "embarrassing" and entirely his fault.

The world's No. 1 golfer, who was sent to the hospital following the accident, canceled an interview with state troopers for the third straight day.

The Florida Highway Patrol said this afternoon that an attorney contacted them saying he had been hired by Woods and that the interview scheduled for today has been canceled.

Police also release audio of the 911 call made early Friday morning regarding the accident.

The traffic crash remains under investigation and charges are pending.

CBS News correspondent Randall Pinkston reports that Florida authorities may be seeking a search warrant to try and determine whether the injuries he sustained were caused during the car crash, or prior to it.

Florida law enforcement officials, however, deny they are seeking any search warrants.

CBS News legal analyst Lisa Bloom tells "The Early Show" that a search warrant would be relatively easy for police to acquire, if they wanted one, and that they do have legal obligation to pursue any allegations of spousal abuse. However, notes Bloom, there have been no such allegations made in this case.

The crash prompted immediate speculation that Woods had argued with his wife over a tabloid story claiming the golf star had been spotted in Australia at a hotel with a New York City socialite.

In his statement, posted online at tigerwoods.com, Woods accepted responsibility for the incident, and also states his wife, Elin, acted "courageously" when she saw that he was hurt. He said any other
assertion is "absolutely false."

"As you all know, I had a single-car accident earlier this week, and sustained some injuries. I have some cuts, bruising and right now I'm pretty sore.

"This situation is my fault, and it's obviously embarrassing to my family and me. I'm human and I'm not perfect. I will certainly make sure this doesn't happen again.

"This is a private matter and I want to keep it that way. Although I understand there is curiosity, the many false, unfounded and malicious rumors that are currently circulating about my family and me are irresponsible.

"The only person responsible for the accident is me. My wife, Elin, acted courageously when she saw I was hurt and in trouble. She was the first person to help me. Any other assertion is absolutely false.

"This incident has been stressful and very difficult for Elin, our family and me. I appreciate all the concern and well wishes that we have received. But, I would also ask for some understanding that my family and I deserve some privacy no matter how intrusive some people can be."

The statement was posted about an hour before state troopers were to meet with Woods at his home. A meeting was not rescheduled.

Tiger, I never thought you were "perfect". Hell, I never even thought you were an "athlete"! Just another grotesquely over-paid sports guy with more money and time on his hands than he knows what to do with.......

Elin did not "save Him" she was trying to Assault Tiger.

Elin should be Arrested for Assault with a Deadly Weapon.

Tiger Ran from his Own House, Trying to Avoid His Jealous and Angry Wife.

He was Scratched in the Face and he was Bleeding form his Mouth, it had Nothing to do with his Car Accident.

He was Bleeding form the mouth, His Face was Scratched & His Crazed Wife was Beating the Car Door while Tiger was Driving Away at 2:30 AM In the Morning.

Maybe she Thought he was going to Meet His Mistress and She Lost It ?

Either way, if this was Tiger Chasing Elin with a Golf Club, Her Face Scratched Up and Tiger caused her to have a Car Accident, this would be called [[OJ & Nicole]]

Elin Assaulted Tiger, he's Covering, like a Battered Woman Covers for Her Abusive Husband.

Elin should be Arrested

We know you are not perfect, Tiger, but act like an ordinary human being and tell the truth. So if you had of told the police what happened, well they would be long gone. You are the one that is making a mystery of it all and acting like a twit. Stop acting like a baby and act like a man and tell what happened. Who cares, so you had an argument with your wife. The truth is, nobody gives a hoot, Tiger. The only ones the care are the media, because they can talk about your incident for a week and it will be some other celeb that fights with their wife and you will be out of the news. And not going in your tournament, stupid move, I say.

I'm with judycamp on this one. I hereby officially don't care who did what to whom. I recommend we all think of a good response so that when co-workers looking for an excuse not to work say "Hey did you hear that Tiger Woods blah blah blah..." Mine is going to be "I heard that the whole thing was Adam Lambert's fault." I feel like I've been trapped in some sort of sewer drain. I officially DID care when the headline said that the nice looking golf fellow was hurt in a car wreck, at least enough to read the article and spare a prayer, but since then it's just gotten nutty.

I think the media is sensing that they can bring down this star, so they are going to be following this story extremely closely so they can tear him down, then once he crashes down to earth they will redeem him somehow, they seem to love redemption. Wgen the media doesn't have facts they just make them up. I have already heard innuendoes that he was high on pain medication and that is why he wasn't able to control his car. Or also that his Norweigan Super Model beat him up so badly that he couldn't control his car. Now another story is springing up about another Super Model he has been fooling around with. Wow, how many super models does this guy need? If this is true, it is a shame that he couldn't keep his equipment in his own golf bag.
