Made In USA no More for NBA Uniforms?
The official uniforms for NBA players could soon be made in Asia.
Sports apparel maker Adidas plans to end its contract with American suppliers and move production to a factory in Thailand. The move could cost about 100 jobs at a factory in upstate New York that makes more than half the uniforms worn in the NBA, as well as jerseys for players in the WNBA.
New York Sen. Chuck Schumer says the move would destroy over a century of history for the marquee American sport. He is calling on Adidas to reverse its decision and to keep making the uniforms in the USA. Adidas has an 11-year merchandising deal to be the NBA's official uniform and apparel provider.

- I agree that the move is unconscionable but I wonder how many of us posting here make a real effort to buy clothing made in the U.S? Or, for that matter, even buy clothing clothing made in countries that do the least to engage in unfair exploitation of their labor force?

- Boycott Adidas and all NBA games and all their sponsers. Of course that will never happen. To many Americans want cheap and these companies know that. The thing is Adidas will still charge the same price wether it's made in the U.S. or Thialand. It's all about greed.

- Forget the NBA and 100 jobs. The majority of the United States military uniforms, boots and gear are made in China. With the state of our economy this is unconscionable and treasonous. If all U.S. military gear had to be U.S. made by law, it would probably create thousands of new jobs. Its hard to believe that if they produced these goods in the deep south it would cost much more than producing and shipping them from China. Even many of the U.S. flags flown on independence day are Chinese made, Don't we have any national pride left?

- if adidas goes over seas with this the contract should be voided. the nba should then take ovewr the company that makes the uniforms and continue adding production to make more than 50% of them. of course the ceo for adidas will get a big bonus for cutting costs and increasing profits. same old BS from the corperate rich they'll keep there job at a lose of 100 other people. proud to be a corperate american. the other 100 they'll go on unemployment, welfare, and work for less you'd think that these dope's would learn.
