No DUI Charge for John Kerry's Daughter

By
CBSNews
(AP)  Prosecutors say John Kerry's eldest daughter won't be charged with drunken driving in Los Angeles.

Police arrested Alexandra Kerry in Hollywood last week on suspicion that she was driving under the influence.

Los Angeles city attorney spokesman Frank Mateljan says prosecutors declined to pursue a case due to insufficient evidence. He says they didn't offer further details.

A spokeswoman for John Kerry said last week that the Massachusetts senator's daughter was pulled over for an expired registration and released after a breathalyzer test showed her blood-alcohol level was under the legal limit.

Mateljan says Alexandra Kerry isn't facing any other charges. The 36-year-old has produced documentaries and has had several small acting roles.

Some folks are born
made to wave the flag,
Ooh, they're red, whit and blue.
And when the band plays "Hail to the chief",
they point the cannon right at you.

It ain't me,
it ain't me.
I ain't no senator's son.
It ain't me,
it ain't me.
I ain't no fortunate one.

.08 is just a legal standard. Most Judges dismiss .03 and below. .04 on up and all you need is the arresting Officer to say that you failed the field sobriety test and you are toast. There are hundreds of thousand of people who have been convicted on that basis who are not "connected" What a surprise, how unusual that she walks.

Good Ol Boy Politics in CA, it was just last week when I wrote one of the reasons tougher DUI laws don't woork is because of this very "glad-handing" by prosecuters for (above the law) classes.

Gee whiz, let's look at this again: Driver pulled over for traffic
violations, legally determined to be impaired, correctly and legally removed from road, appropriately cited for impairment, related to John Kerry (impairment by itself), now all of a sudden local prosecutors are declining to pursue in courts? Sure, no political overtones or shenanigans there! Betcha the prosecutor gets a Kerry-contribution and or endorsement at election time! Whatever happened to accepting responsibility? Oops, wrong word to use for a politician or a movie producer. Apologies are due to the police officer for having to waste his time on this case.

What do you suggest? Charge her with a DUI even if her tests BELOW the limit because she has a famous father. You comments are way out of line for what the articles reports.

Ted Kennedy? Oh. yeah, the coward who left the girl to drown in his car while he went back to the party then went to bed in his hotel room and the citizens of Mass. managed to elect over and over to the senate.
