(AP) Fresh from his weeklong trip through Asia, President Barack Obama is taking time to catch up on dad duty.

The president and first lady Michelle Obama stopped by 8-year-old daughter Sasha's school Friday morning. White House officials said they were visiting Sidwell Friends School in Bethesda, Maryland, for a school activity, but declined to elaborate.

Although Obama has no public events planned Friday, it's a busy time for him. The Senate is set for a make-or-break vote Saturday on one of Obama's signature issues - overhauling the health care system. And Obama is moving closer to his long-awaited decision on strategy for the war in Afghanistan.

I think it is great that the Prez takes time for his kids. Making it into a photo opt and ending up as a so called news item exaulting this great dad is a little sickening. I think he should be more concerned about what will be left of this country when his girls are grown.

Why you GOPers see everything wrong in Obama? What is the difference between you guys and those Jihadis? The Jihadis see their way of life and their way of thinking is the only right way and everybody else's is wrong. Grow up guys. We are all Americans first and Repubs or Dems second.

A father visiting his daughter's school is not an outrageous thing unless of course he is a Democratic President and you are the sour loser Republican.

There is no difference between them and jihadists. I heard one of their Congressman brag about "we need to be like the American Taliban". They've achieved that already half way. He works way more than 40 hours a week and that will never be enough to satisfy these people. The "family values" people upset that he takes a few hours to go to his daughter's school? Makes about as much sense as most of their views.

Even conservatives can appreciate this one. Liberals can get it right every now and then after all.

So typical of CBS - you do everything you can for Obama - including running crap like this which is a pure public relations schtick by the white house.

Having jettisoned all journalistic ethics I am curious how you look in the mirror anymore? You aren't journalists since you no longer ask the administration anything uncomforable. You run these fluff pieces

Hey jimmyc1955,

What was you and FoxNews.com doing when GW Bush was President? You sound too irritated. Are you enjoying your Freedom and Liberty and our Freedom of the Press principles?

The Obama's stopping by daughter Sasha's school Friday morning is "playing" for the media, watchdogtexas?

Huh?

When you or others stop by their children's school, are you/others playing for something?

How much is this costing me for Obama to play for the media, who just have tingles up their legs. The money wasted on this could be used to teach kids who need it.

How much money is it costing you? How the hell could it cost any extra money for him to go visit his daughters school?

What the heck is wrong with you watchdog?
