Model who Wed Doorman Sues Upscale Co-op

(CBS/AP)  A foot model in New York City is suing her upscale apartment building, claiming the co-op board is trying to force her out because she married its former doorman.

Christina Ambers filed a $10 million lawsuit in Manhattan state Supreme Court against residents and management of the East 74th Street building known as the Avon House.

The lawsuit claims her husband, Angel Rotger, lost his job and building employees made her hail her own taxis and retrieve her packages after the couple became romantically involved.

The suit claims residents object to "a Hispanic former porter" living in the building.

"I hope that people can understand how awful it is to come home and to then be treated with hostility in a building where I have paid a lot of money to live," Ambers told the Daily News. "Nobody should have to live this way."

The couple married in July.

Building lawyer Joe Colbert says the claims have "no merit."

The lawsuit accuses the super's wife - identified by building residents as Kristin Purcell - of boozily slugging Rotger in the groin, the Daily News reports.

"He made his way to the hospital and was diagnosed with a contusion," Ambers said. "Can you imagine how hard she must have hit him to have caused a contusion?"

The doorman will have the last laugh, after this nation's voters becomes predominantly hispanic. The hispanic voting block will control the country, and in a couple of decades, they will change the laws and render this country into whatever form they choose. Perhaps they will vote to require proof of latino descent to hold political office, or serve on building coop boards. Ha!

as unfortunate as it is, Phxfire, there is a class system in the world. Nature is a system of classes, there will always be a "lower class" mindset depending on region no matter how many civil rights movements there are. A lot of the time the US class system does not depend only on race or creed, but also money and social status. unfortunately this time it is both. Nothing we can do about it except bridge the gaps a little.

She does know a contusion is a bruise, right? But I am sympathetic to having to live with the whims and opinions of co-op boards. Usually the building bullies are the most active and spend the most time making up petty rules and finding violations of the petty rules they make up.
