"3 Hebrew Boys" Scam Goes to Jury
(AP)
Jurors are set to begin considering the case of three South Carolina men accused of bilking people out of more than $80 million.
U.S. District Judge Margaret Seymour was scheduled to give jurors instructions Friday morning in the case of Timothy McQueen, Joseph Brunson and Tony Pough.
The men who called themselves the "3 Hebrew Boys" after the biblical tale of men who survived an inferno because of their faith, face dozens of charges, including conspiracy, mail fraud and money laundering.
Prosecutors accuse the three of ensnaring thousands of debt-plagued investors in a Ponzi scheme, offering what they termed a ministry that would pay off mortgages, debts or pay dividends for life.
If convicted, they could be sentenced to decades in prison and be ordered to pay millions in fines.
