(AP)  The daughter of Sen. John Kerry has been arrested in Hollywood for allegedly driving drunk.

Los Angeles police say 36-year-old Alexandra Kerry was stopped by officers on a Hollywood street at about 12:40 a.m. Thursday and tested for driving under the influence.

Officer Bruce Borihanh says she was booked at the Hollywood police station and was held for about five hours. She was released at about 5:30 a.m. after posting $5,000 bail.

Borihanh didn't immediately have other details.

Alexandra Kerry is the eldest daughter of the Massachusetts senator, the Democrats' 2004 presidential nominee.

She has produced documentaries and has had several small acting roles.

Requests for comment from Alexandra Kerry's agent and John Kerry's office were not immediately returned.

If she were Joe Schmoe's daughter this story wouldn't have hit the back page of the Podunk Post. I'm sure everyone reading about this DUI is holier than thou and never done anything wrong. Ya right.

19 Nov (AP) "The wife of U.S. Sen. Richard Lugar, R-Ind., has been charged with drunken driving and hit-and-run after police said she hit a parked car in northern Virginia."

Now that we have dependents from both sides of the aisle screwing up can we move on to something more important?

Punishment is usually a deterrent for crimes like this. When this occurs, we need to use public officials and family members to set the standard. If this one gets off easy, that should be the new standard for everyone, no exceptions, or, if she gets the book thrown at her, so be it.

Always interesting to see who the audience is for any network. Not surprising to see here dumb analogies by the always mean-spirited right wing.
The common complaint about Palin's family being highlighted in the press never acknowledges the facts. One, she chose to parade them at every opportunity. Two, she voted against any help for unwed teens, and she promoted abstinence as the only birth control. Anyone see hypocrisy or disconnect here?
It is interesting that cbs chooses to initiate the story with Kerry's daughter "driving drunk", not under the influence or other usual descriptors. There wouldn't be space to list all the children of both sides who get into trouble with drugs and alcohol. It isn't a moral failing in any case.

As long as the law is applied fairly,it does not matter. Punishment should be just that not a slap on the wrist for being from a popular or famous family. Who do you think she is Ted Kennedy?

You will not find one post by me that ever criticized Bush's daughters. Family is strictly off-limits.

dowell100, please stop with the ignorant comments.

If you knew anything about alcohol, it is an equal-opportunity destroyer. It knows no bounds of political affiliation, level of education, level of income, etc.

That comment is so pathetic. The man ran for president! At least he raised his daughters to amount to more than a high-school **** who gets knocked up by her boyfriend while mommy's busy pretending she can read and be a good leader.
