Trooper Suspended over White Pride E-mail

Tennessee Trooper Sent Tirade with List of Epithets to Nearly 800 State Employees

(AP)  A Tennessee state trooper who accidentally sent an e-mail proclaiming white pride to 787 state employees has been suspended for 15 days without pay and will have to attend diversity training.

The e-mail from Trooper Brent Gobbell states, in part, “You rob us, carjack us, and shoot at us. But, when a white police officer shoots a black gang member ... you call him a racist.” It also includes a list of racist epithets.

The state Department of Safety says Gobbell sent the e-mail to himself so he could print a copy. He did not realize he had also sent it to hundreds of state employees.

An investigation revealed that Gobbell later deleted his responses to the original e-mail and attempted to delete the original too. Gobbell has apologized.

To answer Kramer's questions....why is it okay for other races and
not okay for whites? Whites are setting the example of decency, and making an honest attempt to help other races, rather than competing against them. White people generally won't lower themselves to the standard of hypocrisy and hatred exhibited particularly by American blacks, who proclaim what they are guilty of by their accusations. But on the other hand, I think there is probably a limit to what American whites will endure.

Yet another incident -- in an avalanche of incidents -- of stupid, arrogant, asinine, brutal and ignorant police behavior.

Folks, too many of our police departments and law enforcement agencies are out of control. They act more like a group of angry Gangbangers than anything else. They consume massive amounts of tax dollars, have fabulous jobs with unheard of benefits, and we citizens are getting very little in return.

Way too many bizarre incidents.

I guess only a racist wouldn't have a problem with the email whether it was his own thought or someone elses. And we call this the greatest country on earth.

Let me say it again, the trooper did not write the email. Its not clear who did. All he did was forward it. However, the racial slurs were in quotations from Michael Richards court case. There was absolutely no intent of racism whatsoever! here is the actual copy of the email:

This was his defense speech in court after making racial comments in his comedy act. He makes some very interesting points...

Someone finally said it. How many are actually paying attention to this? There are African Americans, Mexican Americans, Asian Americans, Arab Americans, etc.

A white woman could not be in the Miss Black American pageant, but any color can be in the Miss America pageant.
If we had a college fund that only gave white students scholarships... You know we'd be racists.
There are over 60 openly proclaimed Black Colleges in the US .. Yet if there were 'White colleges', that would be a racist college.
In the Million Man March, you believed that you were marching for your race and rights. If we marched for our race and rights, you would call us racists.
You are proud to be black, brown, yellow and orange, and you're not afraid to announce it. But when we announce our white pride, you call us racists.
You rob us, carjack us, and shoot at us. But, when a white police officer shoots a black gang member or beats up a black drug dealer running from the law and posing a threat to society, you call him a racist.
I am proud.... But you call me a racist.
Why is it that only whites can be racists??
There is nothing improper about this e-mail.. Let's see which of you are proud enough to send it on. I sadly don't think many will. That's why we have LOST most of OUR RIGHTS in this country. We won't stand up for ourselves!

If it includes racial slurs and you use your employer's computers and printers, then it's not okay. If you want to do it from home, feel free to include racial slurs. It was the combination of the two and then "accidentally" sending it to EVERYONE that got this guy in hot water.

I too recieved this email and it was not a racist email in any way. The reference to the racial slurs were part of "Kramer" from seinfelds recent court case regarding the regarding his outbursts. However, the email was refering to the double standard that exists between different races in this country. It was definitely not intented to be racists, just a type of affirmation, if you will, that it is ok to be proud too be white. I would like the state of Tennessee to understand that the trooper should not have been suspended at all and should not have to attend any sensitivity training. It is my opinion that he is an upstanding and well liked trooper.
