Fighter Allegedly Hit Photographer at Airport; Spokesman Says It Was Self Defense against Paparazzi

The paparazzo told police that Tyson struck him once, airport police spokesman Sgt. Jim Holcomb said. The photographer fell to the ground and was treated for a cut to his forehead at a hospital.
Tyson's spokeswoman Tammy Brook said the boxer was traveling with his wife and 10-month-old child Wednesday afternoon when he was attacked by an overly aggressive paparazzi. He acted in self-defense to protect his child, she said.
Tyson and the unnamed photographer both want to press charges for misdemeanor battery, police said.
“There's a lot of different versions to this story and that's all going to come out later,” Holcomb said. “There were numerous witnesses and that's what this whole case is going to depend on.”
Tyson was being held at the airport police station and will be booked and released later, Holcomb said.
“Right now he is very compliant, very cooperative. He's just waiting in one of our holding cells,” he said.
The photographer will also be booked once he is released from the hospital, police said.

- If Americans had less of a an appetite for mindless gossip crapola, there would be no paparazzi. What's more of a blemish on society, a prostitute or a paparazzo?

- Folks,
All Celebrities have a person and an image (brand). In real-life, the person can be the opposite of the image.
In the Entertainment business, Promoters and Producers care only about protecting and defending the Image or brand.
The Image is what makes the public want to buy that Brand.
So, if the promoter feels the brand needs more polishing, sharpening, tuning, resetting or restart, then the promoter may demand the image to bite or kick someone in public. This generates good free publicity for the image.
When the entertainment appetite of the public is satisfied, the big $$$ follow.
Americans are the reason these images do what they have to do in public.
Initially, Britney Spears had a innocent girl image. Then, promoters wanted to change that to a grown up and dirty girl image. Her kids pay the price.

- And you feel that this gives the paparazzi 'Carte Blanche' to stick a camera in the face of a person and his/her family every second they are outside their own locked doors (or with a telephoto lens through any orifice in their home).
You are 100% wrong...
But I wonder if you are smart enough to realize why!!!!!!

- Although Mike is a punk, I don't feel sorry for the paparazzo.

- "once he is released from the hospital, In typical CBS fashion, the English language is again mangled. The word they wanted was "after he is released..."
Tyson, as usual, believes all problems can be solved with his fists. Despite numerous proofs to the contrary, he still persists in this. At least he didn't bite anyone. - Reply to this comment
- "As they were leaving Madeo after their meal, Ken got hit in the face with a paparazzi camera causing a late night trip to the hospital with Jessica by his side."

Good for Tyson, he is a real man. - Reply to this comment
- C'mon people, if Mike Tyson really wanted to hurt the guy he would ended up in intensive care. Tyson could have broken every bone in the guy's face with one punch if he wanted to.
I am on Mike's side on this one.
If someone chased me and my family and shoved a camera in my face I would do the exact same thing. Those photographers have caused a lot of innocent people to be injured with their stupidity and hunger for money. - Reply to this comment
- Queue the lawsuit. Mike Tyson has so much to lose now he would not hit this guy if the wife and child were not at risk. These people are not just taking pictures. They are yelling, cursing, spitting, anything to get a reaction (the more negative the better). This guy is trying to get paid.

- the paparazzo got what he deserved. They are always harassing people and to harass a boxer known to have anger management and domestic violence issues...you were asking for it. A closed mouth never gets fed; this open mouth did.
