US Urges Honduran Unity Government

US Disappointed Honduras Hasn't Formed A Unity Government

(AP)  WASHINGTON (AP) - The State Department is expressing disappointment that Honduras has failed to form a unity government.

State Department spokesman Ian Kelly told reporters Friday that "it is urgent that this government be created immediately."

Former Honduran President Manuel Zelaya, who was ousted in June, called the U.S.-brokered pact a failure after a midnight Thursday deadline passed for forming a unity government. The pact had called for installing a government with supporters of both Zelaya and interim president Roberto Micheletti participating.
