Anti-Abortion Protesters Arrested in D.C.

(AP)  U.S. Capitol Police have arrested a dozen anti-abortion activists outside House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's office after a massive protest against the Democrats' health care bill.

The charges ranged from unlawful conduct to disorderly conduct and unlawful entry in the incident, which happened around 2:15 p.m. EST Thursday outside a second-floor suite in the Cannon House Office Building, Capitol Police spokeswoman Sgt. Kimberly Schneider said.

Pelosi's aides said the suite is hers. The speaker also has offices in the Capitol, which is harder to enter to stage a protest.

It was unclear whether the group attended the Tea Party protest that ended around that time. But the speaker's staff said those arrested were objecting to language in the health care overhaul that they said would allow federally subsidized abortions.

There is absolutely nothing that can be said to these people. On television, they interviewed a protestor about her reasons for attending the event. She cited Death Panels and Euthanasia. No Death Panels or Euthanasia appear in the bill, and neither of these things ever have.
You can tell them and show them, over and over, however, they are republicans and republicans never let the truth interfere with their beliefs.

I think that passionate protesters have the freedom to protest about their ideas and opinions, especially when it comes to the controversy of abortion. I don?t think they are doing it just for publicity, I feel that they are really aware of the problems going on with abortion. So many women have their own opinions about abortion because it affects them the most; they are the ones that conceive the baby and feel the physical changes going on with their body. I feel that some cases such as rape or life threatening diseases should be allowed to have the right to abortion; however, I feel that many women are not taking responsibility for their actions and want to ?solve? their problem by having the choice of abortion. Rape and diseases are factors that cannot be changed; it is the fate of certain people and should be allowed to choose if they are willing to risk the birth of their baby. If it is some woman that accidently got pregnant because she was not careful, her actions are her responsibility and they baby should not be affected in that way. Being a woman with Christian beliefs and convictions, I personally think that most actions lead up to conception and women should take responsibility for their actions instead of blaming it on their right to ?freedom? to excuse themselves.

I'm so glad that we've got right wing nuts who are willing to fight against affordable health care for all Americans.

What would we do without them?

Well, the crazies are at it once again. JesusCare AKA our health care overhaul does not provide funds for abortion. I don't know how many times we have to say that.

However, many women, particuarly women who are pregnant with children with congenital conditions, might actually seek abortion because they cannot get health insurance. I might also point out that women with C-Sectios are pressured by health insurance companies to become sterlized or lose their coverage. In addition our infant mortality rate is twice as high as the infant mortality rates of France or Sweden, according to the information I got from the CIA Face Book. According to a just-released report by the CDD, inadquate prenatal care is one of the big reasons for our shameful infant mortality rate.

If people are really opposed to abortion - they should support the health care reforms AKA Jesus care because it enables all women and babies to get the medical care they need. I might add that providing working women with decent wages, information on family planning, and extensive social services for impoverished mothers would also help cut down the abortion rate. The anti-abortion activitists who got arrested really do not give a rat about babies - they just want some free publicity.

I will close by saying we are supposed to be a Christian Country. And remember Jesus healed the sick without asking about health insurance or pre-existing conditions. Our current health care system which is based on profit and greed is anti-Christian, and Michelle Bachmann, who organized this latest group of rowdies, and the GOP are nothing but a bunch of God frauds.
