US Virgin Islands Police Say Small Plane Crashes After Takeoff In St. Croix, Killing 3

(AP)  ST. CROIX, U.S. Virgin Islands (AP) - A small plane crashed into a field and burst into flames shortly after taking off Thursday in St. Croix, killing all three people on board, authorities in the U.S. Virgin Islands said.

The single-engine Cessna was en route to the nearby island of St. Thomas when it plunged into the field, police spokeswoman Melody Rames said.

Authorities recovered all three bodies from the wreckage. Their names were not immediately released.
