Russ Mitchell Tackles Stand-Up Comedy
As extraordinary as it was to see his name in lights, Early Show news anchor Russ Mitchell admits that one time only is just fine with him.
As a part of The Early Show series, "Name in Lights," Mitchell was the first victim to leave his respective comfort zone and try something new.
He decided to try stand-up comedy at the famous Caroline's Comedy Club in New York City's Times Square, where many of Hollywood's top comedians launched their careers.
Mitchell got some expert advice from comedy coach Linda Smith and the legendary Joan Rivers, who offered up some hilarious jabs for his CBS colleagues, including Early Show weather anchor and features reporter Dave Price and Early Show co-anchors, Harry Smith and Maggie Rodriguez.
He told a variety of jokes - covering everything from the "Balloon Boy" saga to seeing a poster of himself that read "One Night Only."
"Somebody told me before I did this, 'you know you are going to like this so much you are going to do it again.' I did like it, but I am never going to do this again! That was it! One night only! Ah. It was an experience," Mitchell said.
