(CBS)  A three-month CBS News investigation of the July shooting deaths of former standout quarterback Steve McNair and the woman authorities say was his girlfriend is raising serious questions about the police probe -- so much so that Nashville police late Monday night released new details about the case.

In the first of a two-part report on "The Early Show" Monday, CBS News Chief Investigative Correspondent Armen Keteyian had spotlighted some possibly faulty police conclusions.

The new revelations from police consisted of a 14-page case summary of their handling of the case. It provided some fresh details, including text messages between McNair and his 20-year-old girlfriend hours before the sexy young waitress allegedly shot him.

One message reflects a request for $2,000 from McNair to help pay her bills; others suggest she was stressed out and could hardly breathe, over money issues. Hours later, McNair transferred the money into her account.

But, Keteyian says in his second report, which aired on "The Early Show" Tuesday, CBS News has uncovered records of cell and text messages the Nashville police haven't made public.

Authorities have maintained from the start that Sahel "Jenni" Kazemi shot McNair, a 36-year-old married father of four who was almost a year-and-a-half into retirement, four times with a 9 mm pistol in the early morning hours of July 4 at a Nashville condo he rented with a friend before, police say, turning the gun on herself.

Police say she purchased the murder weapon from 33-year-old Adrian Gilliam Jr., a convicted felon who spent nine years in prison for second degree murder and attempted armed robbery. Gilliam told police he sold Kazemi the gun for $100, in a parking lot, two days before the deaths.

On July 8, Nashville Police Chief Ronal Serpas told reporters, "They transacted the deal ... and that, pretty much, is where that ends."

But gun powder residue tests on Kazemi's hands were inconclusive, and CBS News has learned there is little or no evidence on the gun sale -- just Gilliam's word.

So, Keteyian tracked Gilliam down to a Tennessee jail, where he's being held on federal gun charges related to the case.

In an exclusive interview -- no cameras were allowed -- Gilliam told Keteyian he sold Kazemi the gun on Friday, July 3, not Thursday, as police first said he did. Gilliam insisted to Keteyian that he barely knew Kazemi and couldn't even remember her name or how they met, describing a fleeting sort of relationship the U.S. attorney in Nashville, Edward Yarbrough, and Serpas portrayed as fact during a July 17 news conference.

"A casual exchange between two people," is how Yarbrough put it.

"He hardly knows who he's dealing with and yet he's selling a gun," Serpas said. " ... How they came together is probably happenstance."

can't find much on the cameras at the condo did find this.
Sounds to me like Gaddy and Cousin Ray were taking advantage of Steve glad they lost out on the resturant. Mechelle actions in that give me a hint that she might think they are rats also. I don't get the feeling she is involved but she should be looked at also.

--
I also made a timetable of my own. I drove from the condo where the crime occurred at normal speed limit to the Neely's residence. It took me a whopping 8.1 minutes. This would have been about the same time it would have taken Neely on July 4 due to limited traffic.

However, Neely's bright red Nissan Titan is not on any video footage from surveillance cameras around the condo. Also, looking at all the news coverage from that day, it could not be seen in the parking lot either.

The day of the crime, video surveillance shows Robert Gaddy entering and exiting the condo when he came to make the "911" call.

How are it the cameras can capture Gaddy entering and exiting but police reports said, "We are unable to verify from the footage when Neely entered the apartment." Neely told police that he entered through the front door, the same door that Neely entered only 40 minutes later.

Where is the footage of Neely? With the time of night the crime happened and the distance and time it would take Neely to get to the condo, I believe he was there late Friday night up until the time he called Gaddy. I will never be convinced that he got to the condo around 1 pm, walked past two dead bodies into the kitchen and did not notice them until he walked out of the kitchen.

His explanation of not calling the police because he was scared is not believable. He wasn't too scared to move a shell casing. He knew it would take Gaddy at least 35 minutes to get there. If he was too scared to call police why didn't he tell Gaddy to call them while he is on the way?

A better question would be, "why did Gaddy not call the police on his way there?" Was he driving the normal speed limit or was he driving at a speed that he probably would have been pulled over in route? Even before this occurred, local street chatter has been that Gaddy asked McNair for a large sum of money for a "business venture" and was told no

I wonder is Gilliam left handed? If someone other than Sahel did this I'm thinking of this possibility
Sahel goes to store. Steve comes in falls asleep waiting on her to come back. The door is unlocked killer walks right in takes Steve out with three shots immediately then Sahel comes in and they kill her with the intent of leaving a murder/suicide crime scene.
Also remember that Mechelle first response was that she had not seen Steve for 2 days? huh he took them fishing hours before he was murdered. She was also reported as in Mississippi initially.
There is such a twisted kind of underlying connection with all these people and the dots need to be connected.
Electronic communications from all these folks is a must can't
Sahel's family request this information? After all it is their dead relative who is being accused and can't speak for herself.

I also think there were two cameras pointing at McNair's condo on was the complex's and the other was the law firms. I wonder if any store open at 2:15am has video of Sahel visiting?? I am sure Metro did not bother to look, maybe they will prove me wrong.

I have only been to Opry Mills a few times so I am not sure about secruity cameras in their parking lot. But did find this under a review of Dave & Busters.

On the flip side - we were in the place about two hours, and we came out to the parking lot to find that my co-worker's rental car window had been smashed in, and things were stolen from the car. Turns out after talking with the security guard - this happens once a week in the Opry Mall parking lot, their camera security system sucks, and it didn't seem like they had any plans to make things better.

I looked around for an emergency call box or something to get security to the scene, and such a thing did not exist. I had to call 411 and get connected to the mall security department, and we finally got a security guard & police to show up and write up a report after half an hour of waiting in the cold..

I'll never find myself at a Dave & Busters again, unless I'm dragged along with the work crowd..

Starting to sound like this girl had a motive to kill McNair, she seems to have way more legal problems and money issue's then Sahel ever could.

Ignagni could not be reached for comment. Davidson County court records show that Ignagni settled two small claims suits in the last year, one with the lienholder of a car she was said to owe more than $4,000 on and another with an apartment complex where was ordered to pay about $1,300 in back rent last November.

ponder this in the newly release Metro 14 page report it states that Neely walked in the condo walked past 2 dead bodies no more than 5' away on his way to the kitchen. Walked back from the kitchen saw blood, picked up a shell casing then saw the bodies. Neely claims he did not realize it was Steve and he ran outside made frantic calls and finally got Gaddy. Then Meto Claims Neely and Gaddy go back in together.
Well another lie according to the below link showing Gaddy running into the condo alone.
Also included is the bonus audio of Gaddy's strange 911 call.

Good job badforu, will we ever hear the truth? I doubt it!
My thoughts after spending much time following this NPD circus is that Gilliam was the dope man for Sahel and possibly the whole gang. My guess is he could be tied to Gaddy possibly, remember Gaddy was part of the indoor football league brother team to the women's Nashville Dreams.
It sure didn't take long for Gaddy and cousin Ray to try to turn their collectiive 20% into 100%. Mechelle showed them and here Gaddy claimed to be there for Mechelle and the boys in their time of greif!
Here is the actual court filing notice Gaddy's address (last page) is the address of the resturant. Huh Gaddy lives at the resturant?

Thank you :)

On Gaddy and Neeley. There was talk about them when it first broke. But not much was given outside of them being friends. It was brought up that Neeley drives a Red Titan. This obviously bright big vehicle is not seen on any videos of the area. There was a rumor put out at the time that Gaddy had taken a business deal to Mcnair, Mcnair turned him down. Thats all that was said about it. Then strangley Neeley quits his job and goes underground. You do see reporter trying to talk to neeley and he is seen trying to get away from the reporter and has this "deer in the headlight" look to him. He was really trying to get away without talking at all, which he did.

They paid $45k for the resturant. I dont know much about the Gridiron 9. Was it an already exsisting building? Was the equipment in the building new? Hard for me to put a real value to it with out knowing its make up. But i know that the Kichen equipment, if new, then that alone would of been a decent amount, could very well be over 45k in just the kicthen set up.

All of the main players in this case look suspious. Gaddy, neeley, Norfleet, and Mrs McNair. Any one of them could of played a part. But the important part.... the GUN... now the gun can only belong to 2 people in the case. Either its Gilliams or its Kazime's.

The text messages are very important in this case. The full context needs to be filed for and released. This will give a full picture of what went on durning the final days before the murders. What they released of Kazime and Mcnair texts really dosnt show much. But if Kazime had 49 text and calls with gilliam, then what was that about? Also i would like to point out that she was supposely texting and talking to Norfleet, what is the giest of that convo? And what does gilliams messages contain... not just to Kazime, but other text he may of made durning that period.

They are avoiding the freedom of information act by keeping it an open case. But that is soon to run dry, and they will have to release there whole file. I doubt they will be able to fight to keep it an ongoing investigation after 180 days with no new information. Im working, and i hope others are working on getting the case closed and the records released.

But I, like you, doubt that the case will be solved. The powers that be kinda made sure of that.

PS. im not from nashville so i cant go look for myself, but is there any Video cameras in that parking lot at this mall where Dave and Busters is located? They have only talked about the motion activated one at a law firm, and no other videos. (but of course if the video didnt show what the police was trying to push, then i dont put it pass them to have destroyed them by now. Video of the Mall could of proved the gun sale, or at least showed gilliam was there)

Have any of you thought Kazemi and Gilliam had some sort of plan to maybe rob Steve, and things went hay-wire?

I'm just askin??

It's possible. I can't figure out why Kazemi had any type of relationship with someone like Gilliam. IMO, Kazemi at times seems very naive and immature, and yet street smart and very savvy.
I kind of think Gilliam was trying to run some type of game on Kazemi, and when he discovered she knew Steve McNair, things went haywire.
by badforu October 22, 2009 3:29 PM EDT
I agree Yellowtape,

When you find out how Gilliam got to Nashville, he stowed away on the back of the bus of a womans football team, even after being told he couldnt travel with them. That is the start of what we know about him. After looking at him.. i saw nothing good. Just a Straight out SCUMBALL!

By the way, i think they said that Neely who worked for a sporting outlet knew gilliam. Not real sure if this is true or not, but it came out about the same time that the story came out about Gilliams travels to nashville.

prior to the release of this new info that they had been in contact over 200 times by cell and text for the 3 weeks prior to the murder, we was told that Gilliam didnt know Kazime, and had only met to look at her Kia for sale. That he didnt know her name for sure and had to pick her out of a picture as the girl he sold the gun to. So there was no reason to think they could of been in on it together.

I would like to point out that when the cops told the public about the gun sale, it was at least a week after the murders when they told us that the gun seller didnt know kazime. Surely they would of already had her phone records and would of known this. Or at least you would think so.

Logically why would she share her sugar daddy with Gilliam? Unless there is some thing in the text messages that would take the investigation that way. I dont know.
by badforu October 22, 2009 1:09 PM EDT
also i would like to note that the police said that the gun seller told them that she asked if he knew where she could get and AK47.

To me, this was just to beef up the "middle eastern terrorist jihad" way they wanted to paint how she killed macnair, and then herself.... like a suicide bomber, Like she was a wild girl. Doubt she could of even picked up a ak47. Just one more of the stupid inconstitencys in the story
