In the first of a two-part report on "The Early Show" Monday, CBS News Chief Investigative Correspondent Armen Keteyian had spotlighted some possibly faulty police conclusions.
The new revelations from police consisted of a 14-page case summary of their handling of the case. It provided some fresh details, including text messages between McNair and his 20-year-old girlfriend hours before the sexy young waitress allegedly shot him.

Exclusive Pictures: McNair's Lover Sahel Kazemi
One message reflects a request for $2,000 from McNair to help pay her bills; others suggest she was stressed out and could hardly breathe, over money issues. Hours later, McNair transferred the money into her account.
But, Keteyian says in his second report, which aired on "The Early Show" Tuesday, CBS News has uncovered records of cell and text messages the Nashville police haven't made public.
Authorities have maintained from the start that Sahel "Jenni" Kazemi shot McNair, a 36-year-old married father of four who was almost a year-and-a-half into retirement, four times with a 9 mm pistol in the early morning hours of July 4 at a Nashville condo he rented with a friend before, police say, turning the gun on herself.
Police say she purchased the murder weapon from 33-year-old Adrian Gilliam Jr., a convicted felon who spent nine years in prison for second degree murder and attempted armed robbery. Gilliam told police he sold Kazemi the gun for $100, in a parking lot, two days before the deaths.
On July 8, Nashville Police Chief Ronal Serpas told reporters, "They transacted the deal ... and that, pretty much, is where that ends."
But gun powder residue tests on Kazemi's hands were inconclusive, and CBS News has learned there is little or no evidence on the gun sale -- just Gilliam's word.
So, Keteyian tracked Gilliam down to a Tennessee jail, where he's being held on federal gun charges related to the case.
In an exclusive interview -- no cameras were allowed -- Gilliam told Keteyian he sold Kazemi the gun on Friday, July 3, not Thursday, as police first said he did. Gilliam insisted to Keteyian that he barely knew Kazemi and couldn't even remember her name or how they met, describing a fleeting sort of relationship the U.S. attorney in Nashville, Edward Yarbrough, and Serpas portrayed as fact during a July 17 news conference.
"A casual exchange between two people," is how Yarbrough put it.
"He hardly knows who he's dealing with and yet he's selling a gun," Serpas said. " ... How they came together is probably happenstance."

- can't find much on the cameras at the condo did find this.
Sounds to me like Gaddy and Cousin Ray were taking advantage of Steve glad they lost out on the resturant. Mechelle actions in that give me a hint that she might think they are rats also. I don't get the feeling she is involved but she should be looked at also.
--
I also made a timetable of my own. I drove from the condo where the crime occurred at normal speed limit to the Neely's residence. It took me a whopping 8.1 minutes. This would have been about the same time it would have taken Neely on July 4 due to limited traffic.
However, Neely's bright red Nissan Titan is not on any video footage from surveillance cameras around the condo. Also, looking at all the news coverage from that day, it could not be seen in the parking lot either.
The day of the crime, video surveillance shows Robert Gaddy entering and exiting the condo when he came to make the "911" call.
How are it the cameras can capture Gaddy entering and exiting but police reports said, "We are unable to verify from the footage when Neely entered the apartment." Neely told police that he entered through the front door, the same door that Neely entered only 40 minutes later.
Where is the footage of Neely? With the time of night the crime happened and the distance and time it would take Neely to get to the condo, I believe he was there late Friday night up until the time he called Gaddy. I will never be convinced that he got to the condo around 1 pm, walked past two dead bodies into the kitchen and did not notice them until he walked out of the kitchen.
His explanation of not calling the police because he was scared is not believable. He wasn't too scared to move a shell casing. He knew it would take Gaddy at least 35 minutes to get there. If he was too scared to call police why didn't he tell Gaddy to call them while he is on the way?
A better question would be, "why did Gaddy not call the police on his way there?" Was he driving the normal speed limit or was he driving at a speed that he probably would have been pulled over in route? Even before this occurred, local street chatter has been that Gaddy asked McNair for a large sum of money for a "business venture" and was told no

- I wonder is Gilliam left handed? If someone other than Sahel did this I'm thinking of this possibility
Sahel goes to store. Steve comes in falls asleep waiting on her to come back. The door is unlocked killer walks right in takes Steve out with three shots immediately then Sahel comes in and they kill her with the intent of leaving a murder/suicide crime scene.
Also remember that Mechelle first response was that she had not seen Steve for 2 days? huh he took them fishing hours before he was murdered. She was also reported as in Mississippi initially.
There is such a twisted kind of underlying connection with all these people and the dots need to be connected.
Electronic communications from all these folks is a must can't
Sahel's family request this information? After all it is their dead relative who is being accused and can't speak for herself. - Reply to this comment
- I also think there were two cameras pointing at McNair's condo on was the complex's and the other was the law firms. I wonder if any store open at 2:15am has video of Sahel visiting?? I am sure Metro did not bother to look, maybe they will prove me wrong.

- I have only been to Opry Mills a few times so I am not sure about secruity cameras in their parking lot. But did find this under a review of Dave & Busters.
On the flip side - we were in the place about two hours, and we came out to the parking lot to find that my co-worker's rental car window had been smashed in, and things were stolen from the car. Turns out after talking with the security guard - this happens once a week in the Opry Mall parking lot, their camera security system sucks, and it didn't seem like they had any plans to make things better.
I looked around for an emergency call box or something to get security to the scene, and such a thing did not exist. I had to call 411 and get connected to the mall security department, and we finally got a security guard & police to show up and write up a report after half an hour of waiting in the cold..
I'll never find myself at a Dave & Busters again, unless I'm dragged along with the work crowd..

- Starting to sound like this girl had a motive to kill McNair, she seems to have way more legal problems and money issue's then Sahel ever could.
Ignagni could not be reached for comment. Davidson County court records show that Ignagni settled two small claims suits in the last year, one with the lienholder of a car she was said to owe more than $4,000 on and another with an apartment complex where was ordered to pay about $1,300 in back rent last November.

- ponder this in the newly release Metro 14 page report it states that Neely walked in the condo walked past 2 dead bodies no more than 5' away on his way to the kitchen. Walked back from the kitchen saw blood, picked up a shell casing then saw the bodies. Neely claims he did not realize it was Steve and he ran outside made frantic calls and finally got Gaddy. Then Meto Claims Neely and Gaddy go back in together.
Well another lie according to the below link showing Gaddy running into the condo alone.
Also included is the bonus audio of Gaddy's strange 911 call.

- Good job badforu, will we ever hear the truth? I doubt it!
My thoughts after spending much time following this NPD circus is that Gilliam was the dope man for Sahel and possibly the whole gang. My guess is he could be tied to Gaddy possibly, remember Gaddy was part of the indoor football league brother team to the women's Nashville Dreams.
It sure didn't take long for Gaddy and cousin Ray to try to turn their collectiive 20% into 100%. Mechelle showed them and here Gaddy claimed to be there for Mechelle and the boys in their time of greif!
Here is the actual court filing notice Gaddy's address (last page) is the address of the resturant. Huh Gaddy lives at the resturant?

- Thank you :)
On Gaddy and Neeley. There was talk about them when it first broke. But not much was given outside of them being friends. It was brought up that Neeley drives a Red Titan. This obviously bright big vehicle is not seen on any videos of the area. There was a rumor put out at the time that Gaddy had taken a business deal to Mcnair, Mcnair turned him down. Thats all that was said about it. Then strangley Neeley quits his job and goes underground. You do see reporter trying to talk to neeley and he is seen trying to get away from the reporter and has this "deer in the headlight" look to him. He was really trying to get away without talking at all, which he did.
They paid $45k for the resturant. I dont know much about the Gridiron 9. Was it an already exsisting building? Was the equipment in the building new? Hard for me to put a real value to it with out knowing its make up. But i know that the Kichen equipment, if new, then that alone would of been a decent amount, could very well be over 45k in just the kicthen set up.
All of the main players in this case look suspious. Gaddy, neeley, Norfleet, and Mrs McNair. Any one of them could of played a part. But the important part.... the GUN... now the gun can only belong to 2 people in the case. Either its Gilliams or its Kazime's.
The text messages are very important in this case. The full context needs to be filed for and released. This will give a full picture of what went on durning the final days before the murders. What they released of Kazime and Mcnair texts really dosnt show much. But if Kazime had 49 text and calls with gilliam, then what was that about? Also i would like to point out that she was supposely texting and talking to Norfleet, what is the giest of that convo? And what does gilliams messages contain... not just to Kazime, but other text he may of made durning that period.
They are avoiding the freedom of information act by keeping it an open case. But that is soon to run dry, and they will have to release there whole file. I doubt they will be able to fight to keep it an ongoing investigation after 180 days with no new information. Im working, and i hope others are working on getting the case closed and the records released.
But I, like you, doubt that the case will be solved. The powers that be kinda made sure of that.
PS. im not from nashville so i cant go look for myself, but is there any Video cameras in that parking lot at this mall where Dave and Busters is located? They have only talked about the motion activated one at a law firm, and no other videos. (but of course if the video didnt show what the police was trying to push, then i dont put it pass them to have destroyed them by now. Video of the Mall could of proved the gun sale, or at least showed gilliam was there)
- Thank you :)
- Have any of you thought Kazemi and Gilliam had some sort of plan to maybe rob Steve, and things went hay-wire?

- It's possible. I can't figure out why Kazemi had any type of relationship with someone like Gilliam. IMO, Kazemi at times seems very naive and immature, and yet street smart and very savvy.
I kind of think Gilliam was trying to run some type of game on Kazemi, and when he discovered she knew Steve McNair, things went haywire.
- I agree Yellowtape,
When you find out how Gilliam got to Nashville, he stowed away on the back of the bus of a womans football team, even after being told he couldnt travel with them. That is the start of what we know about him. After looking at him.. i saw nothing good. Just a Straight out SCUMBALL!
By the way, i think they said that Neely who worked for a sporting outlet knew gilliam. Not real sure if this is true or not, but it came out about the same time that the story came out about Gilliams travels to nashville.

- prior to the release of this new info that they had been in contact over 200 times by cell and text for the 3 weeks prior to the murder, we was told that Gilliam didnt know Kazime, and had only met to look at her Kia for sale. That he didnt know her name for sure and had to pick her out of a picture as the girl he sold the gun to. So there was no reason to think they could of been in on it together.
I would like to point out that when the cops told the public about the gun sale, it was at least a week after the murders when they told us that the gun seller didnt know kazime. Surely they would of already had her phone records and would of known this. Or at least you would think so.
Logically why would she share her sugar daddy with Gilliam? Unless there is some thing in the text messages that would take the investigation that way. I dont know.
- also i would like to note that the police said that the gun seller told them that she asked if he knew where she could get and AK47.
To me, this was just to beef up the "middle eastern terrorist jihad" way they wanted to paint how she killed macnair, and then herself.... like a suicide bomber, Like she was a wild girl. Doubt she could of even picked up a ak47. Just one more of the stupid inconstitencys in the story

I care on the basis of simple justice. Someone had these 2 murdered for some reason. What was the reason?
The normal person dosnt like to be lied too. It may be ok for you. But for most its not. And when things dont add up it bothers them. Bothered me.
Hopefully none of ur family members meet a funky ending and just whitewashed over. If this was to happen, then maybe you might get an inkling of what this is about. Truth and Justice!

- anyone that knows katie knows she is a loyal friend.
she would give you the shirt off her back if you needed it
katie was never interviewed by the police. katie wrote this stuff
in a comment as you are doing. cause she believed her friend did not and could not do such a horrible act. she stated to me that keith loved jenny
that there is no way he would do anything to hurt her.she truly believed her friend was inocent of any wrong doing.in fact katie wasnt dating anyone she was just going thru a bad breakup herself with a guy who she is now back with, they where going out for three years.so those are the facts . and i assure all that katie was not with norfleet that night.
infact she didnt leave my house till nearly 1am with friends from smith county. where she called me from the next day when it was all over the news. those are the facts. - Reply to this comment
- At this point, it only matters to the girl's family where she did it or the felon did it. McNair is gone either way.
THE REAL ISSUE IS HOW DID CBS NEWS OBTAIN HER PHONE RECORDS? ISN'T IT A VIOLATION FOR THE CELL PHONE COMPANY (TMOBILE) TO GIVE THOSE RECORDS TO ANYONE WITHOUT A WARRANT? - Reply to this comment

- by reading the story, its gilliams pay as you go phone records that they have, Gilliams Father gave the reporter his sons number. Then they went to the courts and got the records.
As for McNair and Kazimes, im not sure if any one has them yet besides the police and the police released approx 50 texts between mcnair and kazime in there summary of this investigation that they put out on the 19th of Oct.

- The gun violence in America is abhorrent and absolutely out of control. If financial crisis was the motive for this heinous act, there is no amount of money worth taking lives over. How many other murder-suicides would there be if there was a fire-arm in every household, especially in these hard economic times.

- This former standout quarterback ? a.k.a. Steve McNair not only was married with a wife at home, also a father of four ? established extra-marital relationship with at least two women prior to his death. Clearly he's not a role-model material! This is a life-lesson should be learned for whoever ? so long as you are single ? you can enjoy your own freedom. But once you are married ? don?t try to fool around ? otherwise there could have serious consequences happen to you!

- I've lived in Middle TN all my life. I have never seen them take so long to decide what happend.
The way it seems to me is simple. This girl was bragging to all that she & Steve would be married & his divorce was almost final. Steve never filed. She found out & was ticked off...maybe drunk? You get a girl real mad & she can do lots of crazy stuff....plus she was following his opther girl friend around. The whole thing is a mess. This man was a complete pleasure for me to watch on the football field & he did a lot of good things with kids...but he's personal life was a big mess & his wife & kids are paying for it.
- Kazemi knew several weeks ago that she and Steve weren't exclusive, besides she was seeing other men besides Steve so I doubt she carried on with the delusion he was going to marry her any time soon.
A day or two earlier McNair put $2000 in her bank account to cover her personal expenses, and on the night of the murders he agreed to go spend the evening of the 4th with Kazemi.
Sure, she had reason to be mad at Steve on more than one occasion, but what would make her mad enough to murder McNair in such a horrible and gratuitous fashion?
Also, the fact that Kazemi had a more than casual relationship with Gilliam, one that appears it may have been intimate, however he lies to police he even knew who Kazemi was, to me is enough to re-open and investigate this case longer than 3 days.
- I've lived in Middle TN all my life. I have never seen them take so long to decide what happend.
- NPD is in full Cover Your A@@ mode. Their 14 page summary is a rehash of what was previously released to support their murder/suicide theory and NPD admits they were mistaken in their original timeline of events regarding the alleged gun sale.
I hope all of you get a chance to read the NPD's description of the crime scene. NPD theorizes that Kazemi, who is right handed, positioned herself, " on the sofa to McNair?s left in such a way that she would fall into McNair?s lap upon committing suicide by shooting herself in the head". How is this even possible, unless she sat in McNair's lap, her legs jutting to the left of McNair, her back sitting towards his right, her face mere inches away from his, after she had previously blown his brains out - TWICE?
If Kazemi was only sitting next to McNair when she was shot, there's no way she shot herself IMO with the intent of falling into his lap.
All of this sounds very complicated for a supposed crime of passion.
What I would like to know now is, who are DP and MP, the men who originally purchased the 9mm gun that was later sold to Gilliam and used to kill both Kazemi and McNair.
I'd also like for someone to obtain a copy of Katie Benson's phone records, the current/former GF of Keith Norfleet. Reports are that McNair was threatened by a blonde female at a bar the night of the murders, who said her BF was going to kill him. A blonde who ironically fits the description of Ms. Benson, who ironically was prescient in her threat.
McNair had a bizarre habit, it seems, of leaving the door to the condo unlocked for each other. I wonder if this routine could have been what ultimately resulted in both their deaths.
Lastly, what was McNair's relationship with Neeley, Gaddy, and Judge Moreland. And how is it possible Neeley entered the condo on 7/4 and didn't immediately notice Kazemi and McNair were dead?
Too many people surrounding this case who aren't on close speaking terms with the truth. - Reply to this comment

- I don't know who you are but just for the record
my daughter Katie was at home that night.
and also she was not Keith Norfleets girlfriend.
they where only friends. therefore it is clear to me
you know Katie and have vendetta against her. Maybe
you yourself had something to do with this matter.
so before you go pointing fingers look hard in the
mirror. have a nice life and leave my daughter alone.
- Since you wish to air Norfleet out on here. Ill put the facts out.
What is Norfleets alibi for that evening/early morning? I believe it was your daughter. That she and Norfleet spent the night together, after he got off of work. That is the statement i believe that was released. True it didnt give intimate details of what they did that evening, but it certainly implied, and every one took it as she was his girlfriend and all that goes with it.
That was strange since Norfleet had said kazime and him was getting back together, or something to that effect.
The question about a confrontation that Mcnair had in a bar with a blonde woman accusing him of sexual misconduct. Who was the Blonde woman? This was never solved, but many thought it was your daughter.
Norfleets rap song of "Closed Casket" talks of killing some cheating lovers by shooting them in the head.
What about Norfleets Myspace website with the banner that tell kazime to rest in peace , while making belittling McNair. The last log in time posted on that site for this person was July 2nd, clearly before the murders occured. The reason they gave for the banner was that they updated it after the deaths, and the log in didnt update. Which of course is false. Every thing on those sites are done on the server side of things. To alter a site you must log in or it will not change it.
What does your daughter know? That is a valid question.
With the text messages having been given to the courts and others, they wont be able to alter them at all. Im clearly pushing for release of at least the main players text and cell phone records to be released. At least Kazimes and Mcnairs. Full unedited verison, allow us to draw our own conclusion. Most definitly what has been released is not complete and only what they want you to do. But if your about to kill yourself, im sure the upmost on your mind is paying your cell phone bill.
- I don't know who you are but just for the record
- Family members and friends will always remember loved ones as loving and caring, etc etc. The mistress's text messages speak volumes. She was distraught about money, and he had the money sent to her. The account balance could be explained by the money he gave her. Or ... perhaps she had a mound of debt and what was in her account was not enough. Just because the account didn't have a zero or negative balance, doesn't mean she still didn't need money.
Perhaps there is a reason to re-open this case. However, it seems like tabloid journalism at best. Cops are not perfect. But ... this case seems to be pretty simple.
CBS's investigative reporter has a job to do. And the CBS Early Show is last in the morning ratings. How sensational it is to re-open a high profile murder case!? - Reply to this comment

- Your making assumptions, which is fine. But what we want is proof that this girl was a crazy girl as portrayed by the cops. Nothing says that. As for saying that that text message convo was enough to trigger this kind of carnage. Please!
Do you have a video i havnt seen, like one with her on a firing range? or one in which she is being filmed by a TV crew as she is going off in the bank? Something like that? no there is no proof of this girl being crazy. Her dui video certainly didnt show a girl on the edge. Everything you see, and everything you read says something totally different. If just one person would back up that she was prone to violence. Something. But there is NOTHING. Not a one person that said she was capable of this.
Mcnair giving her $2,000. to take care of the cell phone bills( please note it said bills? More then one? whos phone bills was she paying?). Contradicts that she was considering killing them both that evening. Why pay your phone? Or if you got chest pains, why go to the hospitol? its all soon to be over. None of that fits the crazy about to end it girl.
I would like to note also that the text messages released are taken out of context of what other text or calls they was having. She texted Gilliam 49 times the day before the murder. We got none of those messages.
