Lawyer: Balloon Boy Parents Will Surrender

CBSNews
(CBS/ AP)  The attorney representing the Heene family said again Monday that Richard and Mayumi Heene are willing to turn themselves in if police file felony charges against them.

"I told them (police) that these folks are absolutely willing to turn themselves in," David Lane told CBS' "The Early Show". Lane made similar comments Sunday.

As for the possibility of co-conspirators to a possible hoax or the possibility that the Heene's children could be taken into protective services, Lane said, "I have not seen a single scrap of paper," from the police.

He added that he knows of no allegations against the parents that any of their children have been abused.

Larimer County Sheriff Jim Alderden announced Sunday that he's seeking charges, including felonies, against Richard Heene and his wife, Mayumi. Alderden said the stunt two weeks in the planning was a marketing ploy by the Heenes, who met in acting school in Hollywood and have appeared on ABC's reality show "Wife Swap."

"We certainly know that there's a conspiracy between the husband and wife, you've probably seen some of the e-mails and some of the things on the Internet suggesting that there may be other conspirators," Alderden said.

Alderden said documents show that a media outlet has agreed to pay money to the Heenes with regard to the balloon incident. Alderden didn't name the media outlet but said it was a show that blurs "the line between entertainment and news."

Investigators are examining the possibility of other conspirators, "including the possibility that even some of the media outlets may have had some knowledge about this," Alderden said.

Two of the four proposed charges are class 4 felonies, each carrying possible sentences of six years in jail and fines up to $500,000, reports CBS News correspondent Hattie Kauffman.

These parent are idiots, I hope they have a good time thinking about how dumb an idea this was in jail. I wouldnt take the the kids though but I would make sure that while one parent is in jail the other is free so that someone can watch the children. Rotate them. But they would HAVE to pay fines for the expenses incurred for the rescue that was planned.

After some jail time, they will have a book and movie deals beside interviews on almost all the media outlets. In my the book, he will described in details the humiliation, pain and suffering. American will buy in millions. Martha Stewart is a good example.

Please do not bother me, I am busy planning the Perfect Hoax! Its' all worth it.

Hate the FoxBogus Channel, but I believe Inside Edition, O'Reilly's old outfit, that was forking over the cash.
