Lindsay Lohan's Probation Extended

Actress Ordered to Appear in Court for Missing Substance Abuse Meetings, Had Probation Extended Another Year

(AP)  Lindsay Lohan is getting another chance.

Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Marshall Revel granted a request by the 23-year-old actress to extend her three-year probation another year, but the district attorney warned jail time would be sought if Lohan stumbled again. Lohan was ordered to appear in court Friday after her substance abuse treatment program notified the court she was missing meetings.

Lohan was placed on probation in 2007 after she pleaded guilty to two counts of being under the influence of cocaine and no contest to two counts of drunken driving and one count of reckless driving. Lohan has now escaped further punishment three times after the program notified the court she violated rules. Prior instances were described as misunderstandings.

Is Lohan's Sentence Fair?

While waiting for a late Lohan to enter the courthouse Friday morning, Revel passed the time by chatting with the media and others gathered about current events, including "Jon & Kate Plus Eight," "Balloon Boy" and the Dodgers. Lohan entered the Beverly Hills, Calif., courtroom just after 10 a.m., wearing large gold sunglasses and a studded white blazer.

Lohan's lawyer, Shawn Chapman Holley, asked the judge for the probation extension because she said Lohan has been very busy with work and unable to complete the substance abuse treatment program. Holley said Lohan has completed 15 of 26 individual alcohol classes, 13 of 26 group alcohol classes, 13 of 28 self-help sessions and all six education classes.

"The Parent Trap" and "Georgia Rule" star nodded as Revel cautioned her about missing further classes. While in court, Lohan asked to travel to New York next week for a charity function. Revel approved the request but warned Lohan not to ask to leave the state or country then not return at the agreed upon time or to not come back earlier if possible.

"I'm going to know about it," said Revel, "because your whole life is followed."

Another progress hearing has been scheduled for Dec. 15.

Damnit Lindsey, what the hell is wrong with you!? I love your movies, everyone of them you come out as a sweet girl. Alot of young ladies are looking to you as an example and doing this stuff is just stupid and dissapointing.

If I were Lindsay, I would watch my step. Sounds to me like this judge is the kind of person who will cut you some slack, but push it beyond the unmarked warning sign and you will pay.
Sounds to me like she is now on notice.
