Putin: Iran Sanctions Talk Premature

By
CBSNews
(AP)  Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin says talking about sanctions against Iran could ruin negotiations with Tehran regarding its nuclear program.

Putin said the threat of sanctions is unneeded at this point because it could scare the Iranians.

He told reporters in China on Wednesday that it's necessary to continue talks and search for a compromise. He said further measures should only be discussed if Iran fails to heed international demands in talks with global powers about its nuclear activities.

He said there is no contradiction between his statement on the issue and those of President Dmitry Medvedev, who said that sanctions can sometimes be unavoidable.

Putin spoke as U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton was visiting Russia.

Wednesday, 14 October 2009
NCRI - The stepped up fighting in Yemen is part of a dexterous plan, prepared by the Iranian regime?s Qods Force unit of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), within the "Yaman khosh hal" (happy Yemen in Persian) scheme to establish an Islamic emirate, the London based Asharq Al-Awsat reported on Wednesday.

?Currently, there are unequivocal evidences that absolutely clearly show Iran's flagrant and direct involvement in triggering the war in Yemen by explicitly supporting the Huthists with ammunition, weapons, money, and military combat expertise,? the daily added.

?This plan was prepared more than a year ago, with direct blessing from Mohammad Jafari, the most important commander in the Iranian Revolutionary Guard. An initial amount of money exceeding $4 million was earmarked for the plan.....http://ncr-iran.org/content/view/7285/1/

We're up to our armpits in two wars... one of which ain't going well... and Putin recognizes all we have is our pompous, Israel-first whining rhetoric. Just wait till the red chinese give us the same "Sit down and shut up" message that Putin just delivered.

I voted for Ronnie Reagan to do something about the Iranian revolutionaries taking the US Embassey & personnel hostage for 444 days....ZIP. He even sent the government a cake and sold them TOW missles during Iran's war with Saddam Hussein of Iraq (8 year war). How much good will was that for? ZILCH....

So, it is not a matter of who promises to do what from which political party....the OOPS is not going to be Israel or a brigade of troops in Afghanistan beneath a nuclear cloud from a missile delivery system from Iran...

It does take a community of nations to convince Iran the alternatives towards a nuclear weapon are full of consequences and the peaceful trade of nations is geared towards settling the middle east issues with negotiation. War is too easy to get into, HARD to end, apparently

Wait a minute. I thought Obamas gesture of good will by removing the missle shield from Poland was suppose to get Russian support on Iran. I guess our president is getting laughed at again.

Our foreign policy seems to be nothing more than idle diplomatic hogwash. The talk of containing Iranian nuclear ambitions with sanctions is one day firm and the next day unrealistic because Russia and China won't buy it.
We're being played for fools by International tyrant. Make a stand and let the others dance around like the idiots they are.

Russia will ride the fence on this issue until the last moment, and possibly beyond. Iran and the West both need Russian cooperation to further their respective interests vis a vis Iran's nuclear ambitions - the Russians will continue to play the two sides against each other to remain relevant.

Oh yeah, that worked so well over the last 8 years with President BushCheney. Unless you want to go to war with the entire world, eventually you need to find a different way to handle issues. That President Obama recognizes the limits of American military power shows a high level of intelligence. It is so sad that you and your neo-con friends still see war as the answer to every problem. That is part of the reason North Korea and Iran started developing nuclear weapons.

Pathetically funny! The US dose not rule the world and can not dictate which nations can or can not have nuclear weapons. The more the US, prodded by Israel, puts pressure on Iran, the more determined they will become to develop a nuclear deterrent. Do you think that Russia forgot what the US did to defeat them in Afghanistan, by supporting the Muslim "freedom fighters", and how did that turn out (9/11)? The CIA and US foreign policy is our own worst enemy. What would king George II do, start WW III over a "potential threat"?
