According to police, 22-year-old Matthew Mervine was filing a complaint in the office, located in Citizen's Bank Ballpark, when he made off with a manila envelope containing three rings. The swipe was captured on video, Philadelphia Police Captain Laurence Nodiff said.
Authorities were able to easily track down Mervine because he had also filled out a job application, which provided police with a name and address. Mervine has been charged with theft and receiving stolen property.
The alleged robbery was the second time since September that a Phillies World Series ring was stolen from the ballpark, according to KYW. Janitor Anthony Moble, 53, was also caught pilfering the championship jewelry.
