Political and Media VIPs to Honor Cronkite

Barack Obama, Bill Clinton, Tom Brokaw and Katie Couric among Those Paying Tribute to Legendary Newsman

(CBS)  President Barack Obama and former President Bill Clinton will join some of the biggest names in broadcast journalism to pay tribute to Walter Cronkite in a special memorial service, which will be Webcast Wednesday morning on CBSNews.com.

Coverage of the event at New York City's Lincoln Center will begin at 10:30 a.m. The service will be Webcast on CBSNews.com, CBS.com, TV.com and ustream.com.

President Obama and former President Clinton will offer tributes to the legendary CBS News anchor who died in July at the age of 92.

Also slated to speak are CBS President Leslie Moonves, former network president and Cronkite colleague Howard Stringer and astronaut Buzz Aldrin, whose moon landing was famously covered by the broadcast journalist.

Mickey Hart, Jimmy Buffett, and Wynton Marsalis are among the musicians who are scheduled to perform at the service, which will run about two hours.
