Brown: Rihanna Beating "Took Toll" on Me

By
CBSNews
(CBS)  Singer Chris Brown says beating his former girlfriend, Rihanna, took a toll on him.

Referring to the February incident, Brown said on "Larry King Live" Wednesday night, "When I look at it now, it's just like, 'Wow, I can't believe that actually happened.' It just really, like, took a toll on me."

Brown faced the music in his first televised interview since being sentenced to five years probation for the assault.

Brown told King, "I guess that night is one of the nights I wish could I take back, and (that) I really regret, and I feel totally ashamed (of) what I did."

Brown expressed remorse and took responsibility -- all under the sometimes tearful eyes of his mother, Joyce Hawkins, herself a victim of domestic violence.

Hawkins told King the experience has been "the most painful time." She said, "It's been hard, really hard, seeing him going through the pain and everything that he's gone through."

And though Brown has been ordered to avoid contact with Rihanna, he professed his love on the show, saying he is "definitely" still in love with her.

Brown repeatedly said in the interview he had difficulty believing he did what he did.

Chris Brown: I Can't Remember Attack

In reply, National Organization for Women's president Terry O'Neill issued a statement saying, "It's all too common for offenders to claim they are 'not the kind of person who would do such a thing.' But when we allow them to evade responsibility by redefining themselves in this way, we trivialize their crimes and jeopardize their ability to heal and stay safe."

All wife and women beaters profess to be severely in love with the women they hurt--they claim to love them so much, they would rather die or kill the woman then lose her to someone else.

They love them alright. A lot of times, they LOVE THEM TO DEATH.

IDIOCY STARTS AT HOME. Like many abused women, she is feeling sorry for the abuser and what he is going through and NOT the person that he abused.

As a mother, she should have beat the crap out of him and turned him in herself AND asked for the judge to give him time to help drive home the point. as a Domestic violence victim herself--she should have identified with, and sided with Rhianna unless she was one of those pathetic women who thinks they are the ones at fault when a man can't keep his hands off of them--(so she would naturally blame Rhianna)

BAD IDEA to claim that he can't remember hitting Rhianna. So can he remember biting her? How about tearing her clothes and putting her out of the car? Does he remember that? THAT , to me, was the worse thing he could say because it means he is copping out of taking full responsibility which GUARANTEES he will do similar things again.

The only toll it has taken on Chris is the toll it has taken on his image and his bank account and who is that trying to cry in the background, his mommy--crying because the bankroll is shorter?

The fact is--Prison is full of men who don't remember, choking, stabbing, shooting, bashing in, carving up, running over, drowning or otherwise mutilating or killing their wives and girlfriends--they had a "blanked out" or "blacked out" moment replete with the shock of coming to only to be told they had been very, very bad.

Silly Rhianna, take note--the next time, you might not just get a few bites and your head rocked--he might accidentally bash it in, or crack your lame brain skull, or break your scrawny neck--most of the time, the man does not understand how fragile the woman is, compared to his anger and strength and it really is an accident. They DO mean to beat the crap out of the women, but they often are shocked to realize they killed the woman. Rhianna is a little thing--and her decision to return to Chris means her head is sort of soft--she will not long stand an ass whipping without being seriously injured or killed.

If you must beat that butt--go back and get you a true street rat--a lot of them have grown up being beat by kids in the neighborhood, momma's boyfriend, unca Leroy and grandaddy kane as well as others--their heads are hard enough and their butts are tough enough to take an azz whupping--get you a Madea type girl--not a Rhianna--because when you get ta 'whalin' on her and she needs some kool rayz--you will be going to jail and if you do it again, you will be getting a beat down in prison when the BOYZ make you the new prison --ho.

I think in politics, this is called "Damage Control". Most of us see it as "CYA". I'm still waiting for him to invoke Jesus, though. Until he does that, he hasn't covered all of the bases.

He has obviously been coached in how to put the best fact on this including his sober, conservative outfit. I wonder how much he's paying his "advisers". I could have told him what to do for a lot less. Take it like a real man and 'fess up that you were a drunken a--hole and need a little corporal discipline of your own. I'm ready when you are, you no-talent bum.

Ahhhh Rihanna beating took a toll on him.
Playing the victim doesn't work Brown.
He should be cooling his heals in prison and serve a real sentence.
As he has no talent to speak of, he will not miss a thing.

Another loser getting MORE attention for screwing up.
No wonder these morons keep acting up... it gets them the attention they so crave. I can't believe he has the nerve to go on TV to talk about this - it doesn't help him... is just highlights the big, UNAVOIDABLE fact, that he is a loser. His publicist should be fired. Someone like this should just stay quiet. There's not explanation that he's going to provide that will somehow make this better!
