Two U.S. Soldiers Killed in Afghanistan

By
CBSNews
(AP)  The NATO-led force in Afghanistan says attacks have killed two U.S. troops, keeping August on track to be the deadliest month of the war for the U.S. military.

NATO says one American died Wednesday after an improvised explosive device detonated in southern Afghanistan. A second service member was killed in an attack in the east. No other information was released.

General: More Troops in Afghanistan Means Less Risk

The two deaths bring to 43 the number of U.S. troops killed in Afghanistan this month. July was the deadliest month of the nearly eight-year war - 44 U.S. troops died. But with five days left in August, this month could again set a new record.

The Taliban insurgency is more violent than ever. A record number of U.S. troops are now in the country - more than 60,000 - one of the reasons death tolls have climbed.

As near as I can tell -whaco US enemies spent a wad of time effort & $$$ to attack inside the US-the US then responded by spending a thousand times more $$$ to put many thousands of US citizens right amongst the sickos ,making it very easy for them to attack them ?

Americans aren't ready for another long slog, especially in a land whose Warrios have repelled every foreign invader since the dawn of time.

Sums it up in a nutshell.

Bush did screw this up by not committing to Afghanistan and instead illegally invaded Iraq.

Actually, I blame that on Cheney. He was the president then.

For those of us who were around during the Vietnam conflict, this one has the same feel. Not nearly the casualties, average 100 deaths per week in Vietnam, but a feeling that it is the quagmire that we experienced in the 60's and 70's. The country lost two of it's young today and the Industrial War Complex gained millions in profit on the same day.

Where were you around during "The Nam", around behind your mommies skirt, fishing in Canada and living off their social system or taking up space in some community college becomming a career student?

To the posters above!

You all are filthy and cowards sitting behind the computers and calling for slaughter and massacre of people of the mudhouses who have nothing but their faith and determination. You have all might, but no right to be there armed and in uniform forcing your filth down their throats. People who have dark souls are the ones who have miserable lives and force their darkness onto others because that is the only way they feel good about themselves and their insignificant existence.

History dictates that one day, tables will turn around and then your panties will be up in the air.

People like you are the part of the problem, not the solution.

"Weve got the greatest military the world has every known", Americans assure each other, willfully ignoring that Americans got their ***** kicked for no apparent gain by Vietnamese rice farmers in pajamas, that american sacrifice of blood and treasure in Iraq hasnt quelled the sectarian divisions there, and that the Afghan Taliban is rebounding in ways that make the Pentagon cry out for more and more and more, to achieve a goal that daily seems to diminish in the distance......

You're talking outta you arse and got crap for brains. Your rewriting of history proves that. Quiters, yes the American populua of whom your grand daddy was probably a cowardly draft dodger did quit. But the American fighting man never got bested in any major engagemnet during the entire Nam War. Don't talka the BS if you never walked the path maggot bait.
