Meteor Shower Puts on a Show

(CBS/AP)  The annual Perseid meteor shower put on quite a show Tuesday night for stargazers from Europe to California.

Astronomers predicted that as many as up to 100 meteors per hour would streak across the sky during the shower's peak.

The display was visible for many lucky enough to have clear skys in the northern hemisphere, but in North America, the best time to watch was just before dawn Wednesday.

Astronomers said the best way to ensure a good view was to move away from cities and other heavily lit areas.

The Perseid shower occurs every summer when the Earth's orbit crosses the path of debris thrown off by Comet Swift-Tuttle.

I have watched the Perseids on and off for 30 years in the South Texas area, from urban and suburban locations and it's always a wondrous spectacle.

anyone out there recall the Sunken gardens cast party in the late '70's? Remember how we watched it from there?

The closest I got this time was on the internet. Maybe next time...

Unfortunately, I was stuck in a heavily lit area. But I did see one especially large meteor than came in at a low angle and created a brief red streak before poofing into an orange shower of dust as it disintegrated. Cool!

Baloney! This article is sheer propaganda!

With the chemtrail spraying that's going on, all you can make out is a star here, a star there!

You can't make out any constellations, little alone the Perseid meteor
shower!

You just live in the wrong area. Out away from city lights, there are a beautiful nights with millions of stars visible. Unfortunately, we were clouded in and didn't get to see the meteor shower because of rain showers.

No, No, No. God IS attempting to throw fire balls at all of the sinners in the world. It's just that God had a little too much of the holy wiskey last night, so he's a little toasted right now, and can't hit the side of a barn from 20 feet away. But, when God sobers up, all of you sinners better beware!!! He's gonna get you!!!

Boy, when God gets drunk, we sure get one heck of a beautiful and facinating show, don't we? God should get into that holy wiskey a little more often!!!

If that's the case then nature and physics are winning because the meteors aren't getting past the outer atmosphere. It's a meteor shower, fun to watch, its not a punishment.
