Burger King Boots Shoeless Tot, Mom

Store Apologizes For Ejecting 6-Month-Old Girl for Violating "No Shoes" Policy

  •  (AP)

(AP)  Burger King has apologized to a St. Louis area woman who was told to leave a restaurant because her 6-month-old daughter wasn't wearing shoes.

A spokeswoman for the restaurant chain said Wednesday that workers at the Sunset Hills Burger King took the "no shoes, no shirt, no service" policy too far.

Jennifer Frederich went to the restaurant Sunday along with her mother and Jennifer's 6-month-old daughter, Kaylin. Workers told them to leave because of the shoeless baby, citing a health code violation.

They ate hurriedly, then left.

Burger King spokeswoman Denise Wilson says health codes do not include no-shoes provisions; it is simply restaurant policy.

Frederich and her family were offered a free meal.

This is ridiculous...a six month old? Doesn't walk yet and typically they just wear little socks. I think the restaurant just wanted the lady to leave for whatever reason....Not good.

How much damage can a shoeless 6 month old cause? They don't walk yet, and no mother would let one try to scootch or roll around on a restaurant floor. This child would have been in a carrying car seat or stroller. This baby's little feet never touched the floor or tables or anything else for that matter.

So, please tell us how dangerous in infant's feet are.

It's just one less thing for them to throw.

A 6 month old with no shoes, oh the horror! Good grief, I can only imagine the frenzied nonsense these folks would have over a 2 year old running around their own back yard nekkid as a jay-birdy.

As long as an infant or toddler has at least a diaper or underpants on, I couldn't care less what they aren't wearing in a restaurant. Let the little ones be comfy for goodness sake. Heaven knows society will fix that in short order by encouraging shame when they are a little older.

a 6 nonth old baby girl can't walk. She most likely in a baby carage/strollar. I have been in places where parents take their infants and they be where no shoes, shirt,no service is there. they have booties on their tiny feet. Where a child walks then shoes are donned.
