Kate To Live Near Rumored Boyfriend?

Since they announced their divorce last month, Jon and Kate Gosselin have been embracing their single lives.

And it's not just Jon Gosselin anymore. Kate Gosselin, according to Us Weekly, has bought an apartment in Rockville, Md., which the magazine says is suspiciously very close to her former bodyguard, Steve Neild, who she was rumored to be having a relationship with.

Maybe Kate's trying to catch up with Jon?

He was seen jet-setting only a few weeks ago on a yacht in St. Tropez with 22-year-old girlfriend Hailey Glassman. Then, just a week later, the father of eight was photographed in the Hamptons with former Star magazine reporter Kate Major.

Natalie Thomas, deputy news writer of Us Weekly said, "Jon has become a newfound celeb overnight. Instead of being the wholesome father raising his eight kids, he's now going to a route of what you've seen Lindsay Lohan do in the past."

But what about the lives of the children that made them a household name?

The children will remain in their Pennsylvania home as Jon and Kate take turns living with them - a living arrangement that The Learning Channel (TLC) has said it will address when "Jon and Kate Plus 8" returns from hiatus Monday.

And it's that arrangement that's raised eyebrows among child advocates -- and even some of the Gosselins' family -- who fear the long-term effects of growing up under the constant glare of reality television cameras.

"It'll be good television," Gloria Allred, attorney and child advocate told CBS News "but will it be good for the children?"

Kevin Kreider, Kate Gosselin's brother and sister-in-law Jodi Kreider, also shared their reservations about continuing the series on "The Early Show" Thursday.

Kevin said TLC needs to be responsible for what they're airing.

"It's a ratings thing, but they're playing with these kids' lives, and they're our nieces and nephews," he said. "That's really heart-breaking, and we feel like there's alternatives, like they can limit the amount of episodes. We were talking about, what, 100 episodes in two years. That's overexposure, and these children don't have their childhood. They don't have that privacy they need."

Kevin and Jodi did take part in the show a few years ago, but their views changed as the show became more popular.

"TLC snatched this family out of their little lives and placed them into this fishbowl and provided contracts and freebies that they could not pass up. Therefore, now all of this is being played out, and the children are not the priority," she said. "That is why we're here. We want to call out for change."

The couple said there needs to be limits placed on the amount of time the children will be filmed, and trust funds created for each child to protect their earnings from the show.

Jodi added the show needs some ethical guidelines in place, particularly because the show has been filming the children in private moments, such as bathroom time.

Allred pointed out to CBS News Pennsylvania doesn't offer the same protections as states like California or New York -- both of which have detailed legislation governing the work of child actors. What's more, Allred said, because reality TV is such a new phenomenon, few laws exist anywhere to protect children working in this new field.

I think Jon and Kate should have their parental rights taken away from them. What they are doing to their kids, always in front of the cameras, is funding their expensive lives with no regard for what those kids feel or what behavioral damage they have caused to those kids. Those two aren't parents. And I am sick of seeing them on TV, on magazines and having to hear everyone say what great parents they are. If they were such great parents they won't be airing their dirty laundry in public. Trust me, your children will hate you for this one day Jon and Kate and you truly deserve such emotion from you children.

I watched Jon and Kate plus eight occasionally. I watched it enough to know the kids are being exploited, but my personal opinion is that it is by their parents and not TLC. I assume it was Jon and Kate who signed the "contract" with TLC. I think that both Jon and Kate both should be ashamed of themselves for the way their marriage and family life has gone down the tubes. It just goes to show you neither Jon nor Kate was thinking about the kids and how separation, divorce, and dating other people, and being shuffled around would affect the kids. Safe to say I no longer watch, even occasionally, Jon and Kate plus eight anymore because I think Jon and Kate are bigger kids than their 8 kids, and all they really care about is the money, and the publicity that TLC has brought to their lives. Everyone criticized Nadya Sullaman for her brood which I do not condone either, but Jon and Kate are no better. If your not ready for the scrutiny of being in the public eye then don't sign the contracts and accept the money. Find some other way legal way to financially support your large family. But first and foremost think about what it does to the children and their "FUTURES", And ask yourselves is it worth it? I am sure if you were to ask the kids what they would rather have, the money and fame or their family together which do you think they would choose? I know which one I would choose if it was me and it wouldn't be TLC.

My feeling about Kate's brother and sister-in-law's comments is that especially since they are estranged from the Gosslein family, the Gosslein's activities are none of their business. I do not agree with everything that Kate does, but if I were her, I would sue them.

I think a lot of you are getting off track. Who cares what John and Kate do when they are out and about without the kids. And NO, taking the children from there parience would make things worse. The deal is The Children. I feel like things are to out of hand and the children have become almost like a freak show for people to stare at. Who knows if there futures are being secured by money being put away for them. TLC need to stop the show and put the family into some sort of canceling.
I think the whole thing started out with two people being over whelmed with providing for a large family in a comfortable way and after a wile the green eyed monster showed up. I watched a couple early episodes and it seemed innocent enuff but then I tuned in a few months ago and though what happened?...It's time to pull the plug TLC.

Kate is money hungry, she got a taste of it after growing up poor. Also thanks to TLC, she has a new body! plus anything she can buy to make herself look good, takes lots of money, there won't be any for the kids education. Jon's allowance was $5.00 a week! Now she's near her boyfriend, what happened to his wife? It is discusting that TLC makes entertainment of this type, no more TLC for me!!

Harry Smith is the best. Finally a class interview where he is interested in the issue and not the drama. A real reporter! Walter C would be very proud that there are still some reporters left. few, but some.

If you listen to every single statement Jodi and Kevin are saying, they are not bashing Jon and Kate. They are angry at TLC and are just asking for laws to protect ALL children. They didn't ask for the show to br cancelled, they just asked for less episodes than a 100!. TLC has NEVER had the nerve to show up for ANY network interviews because they know they don't have a leg to stand on.

I can?t believe this show is going back into production. Those poor children will be exploited again and completely confused . Kate and Jon get jobs and move on. No one said you had you be paid because of your choices in having a children. I can?t stand either of the two, never watched the show and don't plan on watching it now.
