Vets Seek Compensation for Hospital Errors
VA Hospital Incorrectly Diagnosed Some Patients With Infections; Attorney Files Claims
An attorney said he is preparing to file claims with the VA for about 60 veterans, including three women. The clients include veterans who have tested positive for HIV and hepatitis and others who suffered emotional distress from the VA providing them with initial positive blood tests for infections that turned out to be wrong.
The attorney, Mike Sheppard of Nashville, also said other veterans among the roughly 10,000 affected former patients at VA hospitals in Murfreesboro, Tenn., Miami and Augusta, Ga., are likely to seek compensation beyond the VA's offer of free medical care.

- And what you right-wing idiots can't figure out is that what is being proposed is not even similar to VA or other military care. The patient would still have a private doctor (of their own choice, BTW) but instead of having a gazillion insurance companies to deal with, we should only have a single payer.... The doctors, hospitals, etc. still work for themselves but are paid from the insurance we would ALL pay for. And YES even low income people pay taxes, every time we buy something, every time we make a phone call, every time we turn on a light. Do not say we don't pay taxes.

- There's your government run health care for you. and people want the government to run public health care. They can't even give quality health care to the men and women who served our country.
