- Midvale,
Obama continues to pay Halliburton and Halliburton continues to pay Obama. As to who attacked us on 9/11, it was Al Quaeda. The attack was primarily planned in Germany and the US (maybe we should attack ourselves!). There were no Afghans involved in the attack and none of the attackers survived, so they could hardly have been given "harbor".
Al Qaeda left Afghanistan years ago. In any case the majority of top Al Qaeda leaders were killed by 2004. Even if we captured a few more Obama would just put them in luxury accomodations and pardon them as fellow Muslims.
It was one thing when we were actually offing several thousand bad Muslims a month. Obama has killed more civilians than Taliban. Instead our troops are walking around playing babsitter while they get blown up. Obama thinks thats a good thing. - Reply to this comment

- The thing is that the big corporations have trained the American people that we need to have a military culture to "defend" ourselves. It is in fact imperialism in the purest sense of the world. We take what we want for our corporations.
The corporations own and run the media, the government and the military. How is Obama going to fight forces that are beyond our wildest imagination. They would bump him off in a minute if he got out of line.

- May God ease the hellfire on crusaders who have departed and those who will soon join and those who are supporters of bombing indigenous people of the mudhouses in their own land....

- We can kill with remote control drones or laser-guided bombs... but we can't put life back into the body of a mothers son who lies rotting in his grave because he believed the lies that his government told him about the need and glory of war.

- It's always the young who die in the pointless wars started by old men and cheerleaded by those with nothing at risk.

- We made a mistake going into Iraq and Afghanistan. Both of these wars are remarkably similar to our disaster in viet nam. We are facing guerilla armies that can blend in easy with the civilian population. This is more prominent in the latter. The taliban are fanatics and don't care how many have to die before they attain their goal. As our casulty rates go up public support of the war will waver, and in the end, we will bring our troops home just like we did in viet nam. Why can't our leaders learn from history?

- Because most of them never partake in it for themselves. They just send others to do their ideological deeds. War Profiteers don't pay attention to history.

- Why do they put that picture next to this story? I know Afghanistan is a desolate place, but I didn't think it compared to a moonscape.

- I will grant that Obama's friends at Halliburton are happy as Obama pays them hundreds of million of dollars. Obama criticized Halliburton during his campaign. Now it's clear he's been bought. One thing Obama loves is dirty money!!!
$300+ million in untraceable, "small denomination" contributions = defense contractors, lawyers, wall street. Obama is owned. - Reply to this comment
- At least there were rewards to be had in Iraq. Oil, regional water control and a centralized base of operations. Iraq's terrain allowed us to grease about 50 bad Muzzies for every American life lost.
In Obama's war there are no stakes, no rewards to be gained. Instead we sustain more casualties than we inflict. One could argue that their could be marginal benefits in running a pipeline through AfPakistan, but that's marginal. It's hard to see how this is a "Rich Man's War". Nobody benefits in Obama's War.
Most of the Al Quaedas have left Afghanistan long ago, after the bulk of their upper leadership were killed. The Taliban presents no direct threat to the US. So what is Obama doing? Nothing but putting American kids in boxes.

- Jesus, are you that stupid. Let's go over a little history. Who attacked us on 9/11, where were they based, who harbored them after the attack? Just a hint seeing as how you are a little slow, Afghanistan. Who pi55ed all over the world support we had after 9/11 away and attack an innocent nation in reguards to 9/11, spent Trillions of dollars and engaged us in a 2 front guerrila war while NOT fully engaging the actual group that attacked us?
Halliburton was Dickies company, not Obamas. You people would make George Orwell proud the way you rewrite history. The truly sad thing is I actually think you idiots BELIEVE the BS your shoveling.
- Well put midvale3 - as you can see theres people still brainwashed about these wars, Invading Iraq was a personal vendetta by GWB and enrichment of his boy Cheney and his company Halliburton. They were so brazen Halliburton got awarded a contrac without no other bidders being allowed. The Carlyle Group same thing which GHB & the son GWB and Cheney are a part of. No one seemed to ask excuse me, but did Irag attack America, please. These people are crooks and they will wind up I predict in The Hague being charged with War Crimes (Invasion of a completely innocent nation). No WOMD has been found yet.
- lolllll....that's a rightie for you: As long as somebody else is being enriched by the deaths of young Americans, its a good thing...
