Anti-Meat Group Takes Hot Dogs to Court

Hot dogs may be as American as baseball and apple pie, but an anti-meat advocacy group says they're hazardous to your health and should carry warning labels.

The group, called the Cancer Project, wants to force hot dog makers to use warning labels. An offshoot of a pro-vegetarian organization, the Cancer Project filed a lawsuit Wednesday in Superior Court in Newark on behalf of three New Jersey residents. The defendants are Kraft Foods Inc., manufacturer of the Oscar Mayer brand; Sara Lee Corp.; Nathan's Famous; and the makers of the Hebrew National and Sabrett brands.

The lawsuit cites a report by the American Institute for Cancer Research that concluded regular consumption of processed meat can increase the risk of colorectal and other forms of cancer.

I didn't think hot dogs had any real meat in them anyway.

They should have filed the suit on April 29, the birthday of the world's most famous vegetarian:Adolph Hitler

throw the bloody thing out as nobody is forcing them to eat hot dogs. They can just say no thank ye and not it on their plates. I do agree eating too much meat can be bad. If they don't want to eat meat fine, That is their business. I eat well done meat, Not every day.

Seems like everything gives you cancer. These people need to grow up and stop wasting the court's time, as well as taxpayers' money.

The law suit should be dismissed as frivolous, and the veggie-nazis should be fined for wasting tax payer money. If they don't want to eat hot dogs, nobody is forcing them to.

If we all paid attention to every study that has come out in the last 20 years spouting all the things that MAY cause cancer we would all have starved to death years ago. Maybe all these vegans should focus more on their own foods(all the recalls of fresh fruits/veggies) and leave our food alone.

Then by all means, ignore it.

We could care less if you ingest whatever you wish.

We won't pay the price for it.

I quit eating ground meat 30 years ago.

If it's ground, you have no idea what's being ground up with it.

Hot dogs have always been known to be bad for your health.
It doesn't take a historian to recollect the era when worker protection and food safety didn't exist, hot dogs could have had anything in them and in many occasions surprises were found in them.
I suppose the industry has kept their dirty secret from the public since then....there is no such thing as a kosher hot dog!

There is no mention whatsever of ACLU involvement.

It's just as truthful to say it's the doings of the John Birch Society.
