(CBS)  Debbie Rowe, the former dental assistant who bore Michael Jackson's first two children, is denying newspaper reports that she rreached a $4 million custody deal with the entertainer's family.

"There has been no agreement reached between Ms. Rowe and the Jacksons," her lawyer, Eric George, wrote in an open letter to the New York Post. "Ms. Rowe has not and will not give up her parental rights. No determination has been reached concerning custody or visitation. And Ms. Rowe has not accepted and will not accept any additional financial consideration beyond the spousal support she and Michael personally agreed to several years ago."

George is witrh the Los Angeles Law firm of Browne Woods George LLP.

Rowe is the mother of son Prince Michael, now 12, and daughter Paris, 11.

In his will, Jackson expressed a desire that his mother get his kids, which includes a third child whose mother is unknown. Her name is missing from his birth certificate.

As the custody developments wrre unfolding, the Los Angeles coroner's office says toxicology reports on Jackson may be complete this week.

A British newspaper, the Sun, says Jackson was so addicted to the sedative Diprivan that he begged to be put under for days at a time.

Complete coverage of Jackson's life and death

A former plastic surgery nurse who helped treat Jackson says the pop icon became addicted to the powerful drug following his many skin treatments and plastic surgeries.

And in a broadcast interview, Jackson's father, Joe Jackson, says his son wasn't up to completing a 50 show London comeback tour, and had agreed to do only ten shows.

Have we not learned anything yet from the life and death of Michael Jackson? At the least, in his death we can learn not to judge and believe every spun and twisted and set-up story. Have we not learned yet, not to jump to conclusions? How is this any of our business, except to learn some lessons for our own lives? Money is only money; it is obvious it does not buy what matters most in life, despite how oppressive and crippling it is to deal with poverty. It appears MJ was a wonderful father if you look at these kids, even superficially. Who knows what motivated their birth mother or sperm/egg donors to do what they did, we can only hope for the best childhood scenario for the remainder of these kids' lives, that they won't be exploited or misguided. I think MJ deserves to be given the benefit of the doubt on all facets of his life and choices after everything he went through, especially at this point of death. I respect him as an artist and human being and hope he is well with Jesus.

I think Debbie Rowe should be put in jail for extortion. She has given up rights for money 2 times and is ready to do it again. How can you sell something you don't have? She's been paid enough. What a lowlife.

there is an awful lot of hate here for a woman that none of you know, over a situation that none of you actually know anything about. she appears to have acted as a surrogate...where is your outrage for surrogacy in general?

Multiple sources deeply connected to the births tell us Michael was not the sperm donor for any of his kids. Debbie's eggs were not used. She was merely the surrogate, and paid well for her services in the births of Michael Jr. and Paris.

why should she get any money

I just read a piece on Debbie Rowe... this is what it said....

So if she is not the mother why is she asking for all this money and getting away with it?

How right you are. I never thought about it this way, but she should pay child support, not collect money.
Let pray for a gutsy judge

Something sick about this whole thing. Never understood the celebrity worship for this guy, anyway. But, this takes the behavior of the "family" to a new low. I hope there is a judge out there with some guts when it comes to the "best interests" of the children - otherwise, child slavery in the US still exists.

I think the court should appoint guardian ad litem's in this case for these children. They would protect the children from anyone trying to take advantage of them.

"This time around," the Post continued, "she is forfeiting her restored parental rights to Jackson's mom, Katherine, in exchange for yet another roughly $4 million, the family source said."

as i understand it, ms. rowe agreed to bear children for Mr. jackson because she cared for him, and he desperately wanted children. she did not have them because of her own wish to have children. they married at this time because california law recognises the legal husband as the father of the children, regardless of actual paternity. when she became barren, they divorced. the children remained with jackson because he was the one who wanted them. he reached a financial agreement with her at the time. this is only slightly different from what happens in a surrogacy situation.

my understanding is that the current settlement is being negotiated as a way to insure that joe jackson not have any hand in raising these children. ms. rowe was in a position to know how much jackson did not want his father to be involved, and this is the way to make sure his wishes are honored.

ms. rowe is not a bad person; she's simply not even remotely interested in being a mother.

The fact that she agreed to have and sell her children to begin with is just disgraceful. Now the fact that she is wanting to do it again is extortion and she is using the children to do it. She is a real piece of .... something!

Just because someone wrote a story doesn't mean it's true.

Hmm. . .I think that's called extortion! Yes, imagine how those kids must feel. "My mother doesn't want me, she just wants money!" Disgusting.

She doesn't think of herself as their mother...she thinks 'in her own words' that she was simply the brood mare that produced them...

It surely makes you wonder why MJ did not get exclusive parently rights when he bought those children from her...could it possibly be that he was leaving a loophole there so they didn't go to his parents...just in case?

Who knows what madness goes through these people's brains as they fight over his money...

The only concern I can muster is the children are away from these people.

I am so sick of hearing what a great mother Katherine Jackson is. She allowed that worthless husband of hers to abuse and mistreat her children - that is not a good mother. To expose Michael's children to Joe Jackson's influence is cruel. His history shows that he should not be raising children. He said he wanted to raise them as strong Jacksons. His children are not strong because of him. Give the kids a chance.
