(CBS)  It's the middle of summer and the springtime outbreak of the H1N1 virus, also known has swine flu seems like a distant memory. But if you thought the health threat had passed, think again. The U.S. government says it could be a busy fall, reports CBS News correspondent Priya David.

The government is spending $1 billion on a new vaccine. Nearly 100,000 people have been infected worldwide - 37,000 of those in the use and 429 people worldwide have died from complications of the virus, including 211 in this country.

"The potential for a significant outbreak in the fall is looming," President Barack Obama said recently - so the government is now putting big money into finding a vaccine, fast.

"There'll be another $1 billion worth of orders placed to get the bulk ingredients for an H1N1 vaccination," Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius said today. "Congress has agreed with the president that this is the number one priority, keeping Americans safe and secure."

According to the Centers for Disease Control, 211 Americans have died after contracting H1N1. A CDC map shows some H1N1 activity in almost every state, with widespread illness in more than 20 states.

Hawaii saw 100 new cases in just the past week, and in Colorado, the Air Force Academy says more than 80 cadets are being tested for H1N1 after coming down with flu-like symptoms.

Some summer camps are closing early after 50 outbreaks among campers. In Britain, the actor Rupert Grint, who plays Harry Potter's friend in the movies, is now recovering.

U.S. health officials are watching countries in the southern hemisphere where it's winter and flu season now, to see what effect H1N1 might have here in the fall. Bolivia announced its first two swine flu deaths today.

"When exactly the flu season starts, we can't predict, but we will have a vaccination ready by mid-October, assuming we have a safe, effective strain that's been identified," Sebelius said.

As a former health care giver, I am shocked and saddened to see what has become of health care in America. $ 1. 4 million is being spent per day in DC by the health care lobbyists so your elected representative is getting taken care of and has quality health care we pay for and can't afford ourselves for our families, I know what is deemed, defended and supported in Tennessee and Virginia as quality health care and clearly profit care comes ahead of patient care. http://www.wisecountyissues.com/?p=62 MRSA ( methicillin resistant staphylococcus aureas ) is infesting our communities because filthy, uncaring hospitals and emergency rooms are breeding them and spreading them into our schools, homes, restaurants. How many more Americans' will be diseased or die while 74 % of Americans' are begging for health care reform ? More people died in America last year from MRSA complications than AIDS. When MRSA and a flu bug start mixing, it won't be pretty and we are being infected by the very health care system we depend on and trust to keep us safe and healthy.

If the vaccine keeps people from loosing time at work it is money well spent unless, except for those out there who like to take off at a cough.

The administration has already wasted a billion dollars on the vaccine, and now they are preparing us for several billion more. The only difference between this flu and most others - is that it occurred during the spring and summer months instead of the winter. The mortality rate is low.

The late Senator Everett Dirksen is quoted as saying: A billion here, a billion there, pretty soon it adds up to real money. This swine flu vaccine looks more and more like a free gift to the pharmaceutical companies. These blood-sucking companies are rich enough!

"Swine Flu Threat Not Gone, U.S. Warns"

Didn't they say the same thing about Osama Bin Laden?

From what I've read about the swine flu, how it is composed from three species and would 'take an act of God' to actually develop naturally,
how WHO---of the United Nations---has 'scheduled' it's advance for Fall,
and how heavily invested various politicians and wealthy people are invested in it's manufacturers, I ask you: how NOT could this threat be gone?!

It's just too importance, to too many people, for a lot of different reasons!

When I see a headline that says, "Swine flu threat not gone", I know they are not kidding! We have had three outbreaks just in the last several weeks: one at a university, one at a summer camp, one at a nursery school! Very unusual for this time of year here in PA.

Yes, it's very unusal.

And when you have a flu like this where we have no ammunities to it, that's not good. It may not amount to anything more than the other flus, but it could. Things can change and then we would be in BIG trouble.
