(CBS)  She's a singer, a songwriter and a fast-rising country / pop superstar.

Twenty-one-year old Jessie James stopped by the "The Early Show Saturday Edition"'s "Second Cup Cafe" to perform her hit single, "Wanted."

She's Georgia raised, Nashville-based and found a unique sound described as "pop with a little bit of twang." Her first single, "Wanted," has been on a steady rise on the music charts. It's off of her self-titled album debut, due to hit stores Aug. 11.

In addition to opening for the Jonas Bothers last month, James had the privilege of teaming uwith songwriter and "American Idol" judge Kara DioGuardi, as well as singer/songwriter, Katy Perry.

She drew inspiration for her song, "Blue Jeans," from her high school days on the step team. The song appeared in "Confessions of a Shopaholic."

While growing up, James was always in transition. Born into a military family, she had to move around a lot and never felt settled until she moved to Georgia. She admits she's experienced some heartache because of this, but at the same time it made her stronger.

"It definitely made me want to write — it was like therapy. Now, I've finally found my home, it seems, in music," she said.

Music came naturally to James, who was born in Italy. When she was only two years old, she started singing into a toy microphone and tape recorder and, by age nine, she was already composing her own songs on a plastic guitar.

James' influences include Shania Twain, LeAnn Rimes, Christina Aguilera, Janis Joplin and Bobbie Gentry. She's also a huge fan of rock music, and her favorite rock band is Nickelback.
