Jafargholi, who was up against YouTube sensation Susan Boyle in the popular talent competition, "Britain's Got Talent," didn't win, but he was seen by millions - including Michael Jackson.
Jackson contacted Jafargholi, CBS News correspondent Mark Phillips reported on "The Early Show" Wednesday, about performing together on his London tour.
Complete coverage of Jackson's life and death
Jafargholi told CBS News Jackson saw him on YouTube performing in the competition. Then, Jafargholi said, Jackson asked the young singer to join him in a duet every night on his comeback tour dates. Jafargholi said Jackson wanted him to sing "Heal the World."
"He was going to pass the torch to me," Jafargholi said, "And, you know, hand down to the next generation."
But it wasn't to be. Instead, Jafargholi sang the Jackson 5 song "Who's Lovin' You" alone at Jackson's memorial service Tuesday.
Jafargholi told the thousands gathered at Staples Center in Los Angeles he was grateful for the pop star.
"I just want to thank him so much for blessing me and every single individual on the earth with his amazing music."

This kid has talent but Jackson was destined to be a a legend and was a legend. No one will ever be able to compare themselves to him.
This is just something Michael would do help out another upcoming singer! That is just the way he was; kind, considerate, loving, giving. He never had a childhood and he was tormented throughout his life, was put through the wringer with the trial and even though found not guilty it took a devestating tole on him that I do not believe he ever recovered from.
He has passed on, leaving three beauitful children (because of their father) without a father. Our thoughts should be with them and pray they do not have to endure what their father did during their life time.
To u-r-right, what is up with " a little too portly and white". See this is exactly what I am saying Michael saw past all that! He was not critical of others! what about the lyrics to his song; "It doesn't matter if you are black or white"!
To Shaheen, I know Michael will always be in your heart because of the relationship you hadwith him as a mentor. Don't listen to what others say. Follow your heart and soul and move on to the next level as Michael knew you could!

- Oh, puhleese. If Michael contacted this little boy--maybe he was interested in passing a torch of a different kind. What Michael had in terms of talent are not something to be 'handed over' to another person. Like Micheal earned and worked to create and perform his moves and songs--so must this little guy and every other entertainer. Michael Jackson, like Ronald Isley, Marvin Gaye, Aretha Franklin and Luther Vandross (among others) are singular talents. If you don't have the 'voice' and the moves or can create new ones that transcend what the public has already seen--there is NOTHING to be passed down.

- Right! It's not like he cured cancer. Genius? He moon walked-sliding across the stage is not ingenious. $.0 average from grade school to graduate dental school is genius. The pancreas transplant for type I diabetics is genius. Playing more than one instrument is genius! Reading and writing music like Al Jeauru is ingenious.
