(AP)  Police say former Washington Mayor Marion Barry has been arrested and charged with stalking a woman.

The United States Park Police said Barry, a current D.C. Council member, was arrested Saturday in Washington after a woman flagged down an officer and complained Barry was stalking her. Barry was charged with misdemeanor stalking and released.

Barry's spokeswoman, Natalie Williams, said Sunday that the accusation was "baseless."

She says Barry plans to fight the charge and said the accuser is a 40-year-old woman Barry had helped financially.

Barry served four terms as mayor. In his third, he was videotaped in 1990 in a hotel room smoking crack cocaine in an FBI sting. He served six months in prison and in 1994 regained the mayor's office.

People of WDC, do you really think for one minute that this Mayor could give a "Fat Rat's Arse" about your unemployment, poverty, education or future? "You look to the bottom of the barrel, you fall to the bottom of the barrel".

Barry's people elected him into office, eventhough he was shown to be a crack smoker. Now he denied everything and places blame everywhere else...just as he has done for the numerous run-ins with law enforcement, so I truly don't feel sorry for him or the people he represents, that voted him in...Keep going backwards if you want to, but the rest of the world (for the most part) will keep moving forward.

Still don't see any coverage of another paragon of democratic virtue, john conyers (D-Michigan). Hmm, seems his wife, a councilwoman from another well run democratic controlled city, Detroit. Seems the missus has been naughty but, not to worry, they are black and democrats, ergo, no coverage.
Good thing the Politico is covering it but you lemmings won't care.

benton09-first of all, why resort to the name calling? Huh? I mean, can you people not communicate with others minus the name calling? Does it make you feel powerful? I just don't get it.
Now, did a bit of research using dogpile.com putting in democratic sex scandals. Many hits came up so I suggest you look for yourself cause you certainly won't believe me and your media tends to not cover any.
The spitzer scandal wasn't on there and I found that funny cause there he was THE CRUSADER to bring morality back to NY politics.
I often thought the condit scandal interesting cause his babe ended up missing and dead.
But who could forget the biggies, LBJ, FDR, JFK and of course bubba.
Yep, these guys on both sides are real beauts. I think it's the personality. The difference is, YOUR SIDE makes a big deal out of Republican scandals but literally cover yours up.
Now, about craig, ya know, I often thought he should have just gone to barney frank and taken advantage of his male escort service. You know, the one he ran out of his home. That way, he could have gotten the lovin' he needed AND supported a fellow politician. Works for me!
Now, moving out of sex scandals, how come no coverage on your conyers and the trouble his wife is bringing him. I understand she's in some hot water over ethics violations.
It's been all over The Politico but, funny, not here.

Can You Just, Flag Down the Police" and charge someone,
anyone you know, With "Stalking?
Can you with the Aid of FBI" Lawbreaker, attract a victim to a Hotel Room" and Using "Sex" entice them to do "Drugs"?
FREDERIC DOUGLASS, PAUL ROBESON, MARCUS GARVEY, CONGRESSMAN: ADAM CLAYTON POWELL, MEDGAR EVERS, MATIN LUTHER KING Jr, RUBEN HURRICANE CARTER, CONG MEL REYNOLDS, MOHAMMID ALI, JAMES BROWN, MICHAEL JACKSON AND Boxing's DON KING,
are just a few of the individuals that were guilty, of being "Successful" and "Black" In "America".

You were kinda reaching with those last 3 but they do fit into the same scumbag category as Barry.

Judge??? If I am correct...The Republicans (Sanford) who so meanly judged Pres. Clinton about his relationship with another woman when he himself (Sanford) was having out of marriage relationships...
Republicans judge while they are sleeping around...
On the part of Barry....I live in DC and am SICK OF HIM, his life stories, and his behaviors...Personally, I don't think he is worth the time and effort someone had to put into sharing this information.
THAT'S it...NO more Barry stories...

You libs keep rewriting history. Ole bubba got into trouble for lying under oath but do you libs remember that? Nope.
The point we are trying to make here is, a Republican messes up and there is an outcry to step down. One of yours messes up and he is embraced. That's the point. You and your press have a feeding frenzy.
Remember spitzer?? Well, when his screw up broke this site and others didn't mention his party affiliation until the last paragraph!
After that, the coverage was about the hooker not him.
Why is that?
As for the whole morals issue, yep, we try to hold onto morals and often mess up. That's human nature. Most thinking beings realize that fact.
So, based on your post and others you think it's just fine when a democrat messes up? Correct me if I'm wrong.

I got your point xlib. But, it's not on point. Address the true nature of the beast - they are fallible men - the old axiom "Power corrupts. Absolute power corrupts absolutely." I'd stop whining and trying to pin it on a party and address the real issue, which is a total lack of integrity and honesty as a particular human being. I'd think you'd have better things to do with your time that argue this point. What's it going to get you? It's not even a very relevant line of debate in a country where our politics and our government have been decimated by bad behavior of all types, both personal and professional.

What constantly amazes me from both sides is that they attribute these behaviors to a PARTY, when it's simply bad behavior of a MAN who thinks he's above the law (and based on the fact idiots reelect these people, is it any wonder?)

I could have cared less about any of them - Craig, Sanford, etc. - but what I do care about is they actively attempt to determine my morality and whether I should have the same rights and privileges they have despite the fact I pay the same price for them without enjoying them. I call that hypocrisy, no matter what party they belong to.

Hahaha! I guess that's why I saw you so ardently defending the GOP for the past 8 years.

Democrats just LOVE to judge.

But not to BE JUDGED.

So, since when do you get to be in the judging business. Specially credentialed? I don't think he was thinking with is party line - but instead with something south of there.

How many crimes can you commit before being sent to jail if you are Marion Barry? Apparently as many as you want. If this was a Republican, they wouldn't have the chance to commit this many crimes. I'm sure race will come up shortly.

He DID go to prison for crack.

But because he's a Democrat, even crack smoking is no reason to condemn a person.

If you're a Republican, wearing a belt that doesn't match your shoes is grounds for impeachment.

Democrats are such self-righteous judgemental hypocrites.

They love to judge others.

But they see no reason to be judged themselves.

She says Reverend Barry plans to fight the charge and said the accuser is a 40-year-old woman Barry had helped financially.

Isn't this the same pervert that hung around Bill Clinton watching porn, smoking crack in Washington while they tried to come up with an alibi for Bill when he was involved with Monica?

I guess you're PR $$$pokesperson could say that by being a crack customer of this woman he was helping her financially. What a Jerk! The no change we can count on. Business as usual! So Sad!

Thank God this story wasn't another ***** family values republican.

I can't take another story about a republican two-faced hypocrite
sticking his swizzle stick in some wh_re while the wife and kids
are buying a Father's Day gift.

But what you're saying is, this kind of behavior is OK as long as it isn't hypocrisy. Right?

So, we should judge the person with the higher personal standards more harshly than we judge the sleazy grungy creep who has no personal standards at all?

Basically, we should punish people for having higher standards, but not for their actual conduct????
by xlib July 6, 2009 9:30 AM EDT
Well, maybe you can focus on some democrat scumbag. See, both parties are full of scumbags but you libtards just ignore or celebrate yours. Now, wonder how the spitzer kids are doing. Or, wonder how edwards wife (is she dead yet?)and his kids celebrated Father's Day.
Or,has the kennedy family gotten over the scandals of JFK, RFK or teddy?
So, keep up the righteous indignation that is so typical of you libs. Based on your leading rambling sentence you libs just don't hace any values at all.
by xlib July 5, 2009 7:57 PM EDT
Well, glad to see he got his drugged out self out of that cheap motel with the hooker. No party governs cities better than the democrats.
woeisme1-Say idiot, are you saying that no democrat can screw up, is that what your saying? This idiot has been a train wreck since day one.
So, one of your own jerks gets messed up and you pull out the "well, what about that Republican".
So, because of sanford this guy is just fine?? What an idiot, what a dolt you are.

He got caught ON VIDEO smoking crack, and the citizens of WDC elected him back into office.

Why do we just ACCEPT this kind of behavior from a Democrat, but if a Republican toe-taps or has an affair, it's so GASP shocking!!!

The Democrats have such double standards.
