Eating corn on the cob without butter is like taking a shower with a raincoat on. I'd rather put butter on my corn and skip the potato salad or anything fried.

If y'all want to save calories every day, use fat-free products like coffee creamer (powdered), cottage cheese, yogurt, sour cream, and fat-free Miracle Whip and low-fat Hellman's. I've kept off about 10 pounds for the last five years by choosing fat-free products. I usually don't eat bread or rolls with dinner, but when I do, I don't put any butter on it. Like I say to my husband, "Put down the butter knife and step away from the butter dish. You're busted by the Anti-Fat Police." If you really love butter and your will is weak, just don't buy it for a couple of months. Try this somewhat draconian method with all of your favorite but naughty foods. Remember, nobody holds a gun to your head at the grocery store, nobody MAKES you buy fattening goodies and snacks.

The weight you take off with these small changes will be the weight you will keep off. But you have to be patient and it sure wouldn't hurt if you walk at least one mile a day while you avoid fatty foods.
