Teacher Gives Sex Tape to 5th Graders

(CBS13)  A local teacher accidentally put pornography into a DVD that was meant to be filled with school memories from the past year, and nobody caught the error until after it was sent home, shocking parents and students alike.

Parents of students who attend Isabelle Jackson Elementary said that the woman is a good teacher, but just made a mistake that may become the most embarrassing moment of their life.

The offending DVD starts with a menu screen that displays various school trips and functions, and when you click on one of them, you see kids in a classroom sharing stories. They start clapping, then the video suddenly cuts to sex.

"It goes from my son, straight to her on the couch," said 'Joe,' who saw the video along with his son and did not wish to be identified. "My son's reaction was, 'Dad, is that Ms. Defanti?'"

"We were up till midnight doing the 'birds and the bees,'" he added.

The person in the video turned out to be Isabelle Jackson Elementary fifth grade teacher Crystal Defanti.

"All she could say was that it was a horrible mix up," Joe said.

The teacher called his home the day after his child got the DVD, crying hysterically, profusely apologizing and asking the man and his wife to call every parent they knew to stop their kids from seeing the DVD too.

The Elk Grove Unified School District says they are investigating, but legal experts say it's unlikely that the teacher will lose her job.

"It's felony stupid, but it's not a crime," said defense expert Ken Rosenfeld. "Is it something that she should be disciplined for? Absolutely, but fired for? She didn't intend for this to happen."

Joe doesn't care if the teacher keeps her job, he'd just like some help from the school.

"Maybe offer some sort of counseling for my children, ask me how my children are doing," he said. "I want somebody to ask me the kind of questions my kids are asking me."

School officials say a new DVD will be sent to students once it has been reviewed.

This has nothing to do with politics or educational standards, but it definitely smacks of puriance and double standard.

Ask yourself what action would be taken if this had been a MALE teacher.

Equal rights, equal consequences.

I don't beleive for a minute it was an accident. It is called "comprehensive sex education." That is where you turn our children over to teachers who get to share adult sex with your kids with no taboos. Some teachers are decent and won't abuse the playground. Others are twisted and will abuse your kids. The adult sexual abuse of children in public schools has skyrocketed and we only know a part of it.

wtlibss does not seem to be suggesting anything negative towards sex, just saying that our teachers , educators, whatever! Simply do not have any class or respect. I would have to agree, just look at al the cases of teachers who've been prosecuted or accused of various sex acts with students. Based on that you sort of have to be judgemental if you are a teacher who does have pride, respect class, etc. i do think the teacher just may have made a mistake, has nothing to do with being a liberal. End of story. However i do believe this "wtlibss" has a good point, i would have to agree as well liberal minds create more problems & issues in society.

Seriously? What ever happened to parents owning up to their job of giving their children a talk. Counseling??? I don't think we're going to have a massive cult suicide of elementary schoolers from that school just because they caught a second of their teacher naked.

I don't buy that it was an accident. We're talking recording on a DVD. It's not a VHS. You can't just randomly record over a certain section. I think she was getting her kicks out of it and then realized she could get into a lot of trouble. If it were a man I'm willing to bet he would have already lost his job. I think she should be treated the same/

If you had any common sense of a computer it wouldn't really be that hard. You probably have windows right? Go check out windows movie maker, it's just a drag and drop, she probably waited forever to make the DVD then rush to make it and accidently threw in a wrong clip. I've done it with a school project, it just wasn't a clip of me naked on a couch...

I don't think this has anything to do with a 'new breed' of teachers, their political persuasion, or their intelligence level.

We have made great advancements in this society, technology in the forefront. With this comes greater responsibility, for all we have gained, we have also lost.We no longer enjoy some of the simpler freedoms, but we have amassed a world at our fingertips.

We can cry and mourn the loss of yesteryear all day, but we can't go back.

So what's my point? Yes - she made an irresponsible error. It was really poor judgment not to preview those DVDs. Should she be made a scapegoat for the failure of the educational system? Should she be fired? No, neither, that's ridiculous. Should she be disciplined and make a formal, public apology? Yes, and I'm sure she will.

The bottom line here; some pubescent children saw sex. Big deal. If you haven't educated your children about sex at this age, you should be disciplined. Lord knows there are far worse evils they are seeing every day. Think for a minute about the violence in tv, movies, video games, and news programs we routinely shrug off. What's more damaging? Sex between two consenting adults or man kills wife and self in apparent suicide-pact. More at 11.
