Teacher Pleads Not Guilty to Rape of Boy

(AP)  A former Massachusetts schoolteacher who was found with a student at a West Virginia motel has pleaded not guilty to rape.

Lisa Lavoie, 24, was arraigned Tuesday in Hampden Superior Court in Massachusetts on three counts of aggravated rape and abuse and three counts of statutory rape.

Lavoie and a 15-year-old student were reported missing Feb. 16 and were found a week later. She was fired from her job.

Lavoie already pleaded not guilty in March to enticing a minor. Her attorney, David Hoose, says the new charges were not unexpected.

He says Lavoie is "very upset by the whole experience that she went through."

She is out on $25,000 bail.

AS a college Professor I am shocked at the hate and vituperaton shown to this young woman who, yes, made a mistake in judgment, and yes is probably sorry for her actions, and feels terrible that she is not being understood. When cross traffic occurs, sometimes there is an accident, that no on can avoid.
We can step back and ask how did this happen. What made her snap.

Or we can just go about the routine, and take one more shot at a young woman who is a trained teacher, and probably had over stressed teaching responsibilities, and was crying out for help, when there was none. How many kids were in her class ? What time did she have to start her day ? Was she forced to work long hours at school functions ? Was she abused as a child herself.

Blame is easy.

As a woman I can agree with many of the comments here about the lack of wife material. Women today do not learn to cook, clean or be a wife and mother. They want a man who will do it all or hire it done and put them on a pedastal. They want to be worshiped and yes, Princess is the perfect term for them. HOWEVER, when a man DOES find a woman with all of the traits of a good wife, she is labeled clingy and desperate. So please for the sake of everyone make up your minds, either you want wife material or you do not. This is from a woman who was a good wife and mother, who cooked and cleaned and put my husband and my children above all else, only to have him walk out on me for a woman who treats him like a doormat.

I don't know about you, but at 15 to be with a 24 year old is a priveldge not a crime, but I'm a male.
If I were a female and went along, the adult would be raped in prison.

Oh yeah, and suppose she gets herself pregnant and then sues you to foot the bill? This has happened. The fact is you are considered a child under age because you do not have the maturity to give INFORMED consent. It is not open season on schoolboys.

Now you see why The Governor went 4,000 miles to Argentina. If you read those emails I would too. I love women like her, passionate, affectionate, feminine. I would go through a 100 of these regular ones just to find one with those qualities. Go Governor Go!

Abuse? Fear of rejection? Social inabilities? Who knows what her issue truly is... the fact remains, the opportunity presented itself that she could take advantage of, and she took it...

Hmm. 24 year old MALE teacher sleeps with 15 yeaar old "girl" student and is hung by the courts.

24 year old FEMALE teacher sleeps with "young man", "feels bad" about it and is released on bail with a slap on the wrist coming.

No double standard here.
